The following
provides a
general procedure
for
installation
and
initial
power
up of
the HP
83711A/12A or
HP 83711B/12B
synthesizer
.
1. Check
to make
sure that
the power
cable
is
undamaged.
Do not
use the
power
cable
if
the
plug
contacts
are
bent
or
broken
or
if
the wire
insulation is
damaged
or
if
wire
is
exposed.
Never
use
a
power
cable if
the grounding
contact
has
been
removed.

Always
use
the
three-prong
A
C
power
cord
supplied
with
this
product.
F
ailure
to
ensure
adequate
earth
grounding
by
not
using
this
cord
may
cause
product
damage
.
2.
Set the
POWER
switch
(LINE
on
an
HP
83711A/12A)
on
the
synthesizer
to
standby
(
).
3.
Set
the
line
voltage
selector
switch
to
match
the
mains
voltage
.
The
line
voltage
selector
switch
is
located
on
the
rear
panel
of
the
synthesizer
to
the
right
of
the
power
module
.
Use
a
small
at
blade
screwdriver
to
set
the
switch
up
for
mains
voltages
in
the
range
of
90
V
to
132
V
;
50,
60,
or
400
Hz
or
down
for
mains
voltages
in
the
range
of
198
V
to
264
V
;
50
or
60
Hz.
