Using RS-232 (ESG, PSG, and E8663B Only)
2. Setting the RS- 232 Echo Softkey
3. Connect an RS- 232 cable from the computer’s serial connector to the ESG signal generator’s
RS-232 connector or the PSG or E8663B’s AUXILIARY INTERFACE connector. Refer to Table 2- 2 for
RS- 232 cable information.
NOTE Any 9 pin (male) to 9 pin (female) straight- through cable that directly wires pins 2, 3, 5, 7,
and 8 may be used.

Toggle RS-232 Echo Off On until Off is
highlighted. Selecting On echoes or returns
characters sent to the signal generator and
prints them to the display.
SCPI commands:
:SYSTem:COMMunicate:SERial:ECHO ON|OFF
:SYSTem:COMMunicate:SERial:ECHO?
