Overview

This document is a user manual for the AIBAO艾宝 Safety Baby Car Seat, designed for children in Group I+II+III, weighing between 9-36kg. It is a forward-facing child restraint system that has been approved in accordance with the ECE R44/04 regulation.

Function Description:

The AIBAO艾宝 Safety Baby Car Seat is designed to protect babies and children during car travel by providing a secure and comfortable restraint system. It is suitable for a wide range of ages and weights, accommodating children from approximately 9 months up to 12 years old (9-36kg). The car seat features a 5-point harness system for younger children and can be adapted for older children by removing the harness and using the vehicle's 3-point seat belt.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Group: I+II+III
  • Body Weight Range: 9-36kg
  • Facing Direction: Forward-facing
  • Approval Standard: ECE R44/04
  • Belt System Compatibility: Primarily designed for use with a 3-point vehicle belt. Not to be used with a 2-point belt due to increased risk of injury.
  • ISOFIX and Top Tether: The manual indicates that the seat can be used with ISOFIX and Top Tether anchoring systems, though it also notes to refer to vehicle owner's manual for specific instructions, especially regarding front airbags.

Usage Features:

  • Baby Insert: For babies weighing less than 15kg, a baby insert is provided to offer extra comfort and necessary support. This insert should be removed for older/heavier children.
  • 5-Point Harness System: The car seat includes a 5-point harness (shoulder pads, harness strap, buckle pads, harness buckle) for securing children in Group I (9-18kg). The harness straps can be loosened by pressing a release button and tightened using an adjustment strap.
  • Adjustable Headrest: The headrest can be set at multiple heights (five in Group I mode, and three additional positions in Group II & III mode) to ensure the shoulder belts fit properly over the child's shoulders. The correct belt height is achieved when the belt disappears into the shell slightly above the child's shoulder.
  • Adaptability for Group II/III: For children weighing between 15-36kg, the 5-point harness system and baby insert are removed. The child is then secured using the vehicle's 3-point seat belt, which is routed through designated belt guides at the backrest and bottom part of the car seat. The manual also describes an installation method for Group II/III without the backrest, where the child sits directly on the booster base and is secured by the vehicle's 3-point belt, with the lap section positioned under both armrests.
  • Installation:
    • Group I (9-18kg): The seat is placed on the vehicle seat without incline, with its backrest firmly against the vehicle seat. The vehicle's 3-point belt is routed through the belt guides at the backrest and bottom part of the car seat and buckled. The belt is then tightened to ensure the seat is stable and secure.
    • Group II/III (15-36kg): The harness system is removed. The child is placed in the seat, and the vehicle's 3-point belt is routed through the appropriate shoulder belt slot (chosen based on child's body height) and lap section, then fastened.
    • Group II/III without backrest (15-36kg): The backrest is removed from the base. The child sits on the base, and the vehicle's 3-point belt is positioned around the child, with the lap section under both armrests, and then fastened.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always secure the child in the car seat using the harness or vehicle belt.
    • Never leave the child unattended in the car seat.
    • Ensure the car seat is not placed on a vehicle seat with an active airbag.
    • Keep the car seat out of direct sunlight to prevent overheating.
    • Regularly check that the buckle is fully locked.
    • Do not make any modifications to the car seat or its harness system.
    • The car seat should not be reused after being damaged in an accident.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cover Removal and Washing: The seat cover can be removed and washed with a mild detergent using a washing machine's delicate cycle (30°C). Instructions on the washing label should be followed. Do not spin or tumble dry.
  • Plastic Parts Cleaning: Plastic parts can be cleaned using soapy water. Harsh cleaning agents or solvents should not be used.
  • Harness Cleaning: The harness can be removed and washed in lukewarm soapy water. The buckle tongues should never be removed from the straps.
  • Storage of Components: When transitioning from Group I to Group II/III, the baby insert, harness strap, harness buckle, buckle pads, and shoulder pads should be stored safely for future use.
  • Regular Checks: Before each use, check that the harness belt system (or vehicle belt) fits properly and tightly around the child, and that the shoulder belts are at the correct height. Regularly inspect the belt for damage.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase, applicable to the original owner and non-transferable. The warranty covers manufacturing defects but is void if defects are caused by misuse, improper maintenance, third-party repairs, neglect, damage/removal of the serial number, or normal wear and tear.
