The MSS-8 houses equipment that supports 10 Gb/s packet
switching, synchronization, protection switching, provisioning,
and alarm management utilizing either one CSM module in
unprotected configuration or two CSM modules in protected
configuration.
Six transponder slots support any mixture of unprotected
and/or 1+1 EPS protected transponder modules. Supported
transponder types include: up to two P8ETH (Ethernet)
modules, up to six P32E1DS1 (DS1) modules, up to six
P2E3DS3 (DS3), and/or up to six MOD300 (radio) modules.
One fan module is required for system cooling.
