To begin using the Alienware 13 R3, you need to connect the power adapter and then press the power button. The power button, identified as the "Alienhead" on the base of the laptop, serves multiple functions. A single press will turn on the computer if it is off, in sleep mode, or in hibernate state. If the computer is already on, pressing the power button will put it into sleep mode.
