communicationlinkandmaybeaccompaniedbyaDTC.Thecat-eyesare
illuminatedinboththeSELECTandMONITORlocationsafterapproximately

7.6SELECTORDISPLAYISINOPERATIVE
IntheeventcommunicationwiththeSAEJ1939datalinkislost,limited
communicationbetweentheTCMandtheAllisonkeypadpushbuttonand
levershiftselectorscontinuesthroughdirectionsignalwire134.Thislimited
communicationallowstheoperatortoselectD(Drive),N(Neutral),orR
(Reverse)inordertogetthevehicletoaservicelocation.Operatorrequests
forrangeupshiftsanddownshiftswillnotberecognized,andtheshiftselector
displaywillnotdisplaytheselectedtransmissionrangeduetothelackofa
SAEJ1939datalinksignal,butdisplaysdoublecat-eyes.
WARNING:Assumingproperinstallationofdirectionsignalwire
134,mostAllisonshiftselectorsmaystillbeusedtocommand
transmissiondirectionchangesinthesecircumstances.Duetothe
failureoftheSAEJ1939datalinkcommunication,however,theshift
selectorcannotdisplaytheselectedrange.Whenthiscondition
exists,itisadvisabletoslowlyandcarefullyapplythethrottleeach
timeachangeofdirectionhasbeenselectedinordertoverifythe
directionofoperationbeforeacceleratingthevehicle.
