Usethedipstickmethodifanyofthefollowingsituationsexist:
Iftransmissionuidtemperatureisbelowthetemperaturetocheckit
electronically,conductaCOLDCHECKtodeterminewhetherthereis
enoughuidtostartandmovethevehicle.
IfthevehicledoesnothaveanAllison5thGenerationshiftselector
ortheOEMhasnotintegratedtheelectronicmessagesregardingoil
levelintotheirselector.
IftheOLSorvehiclewiringisdefective,ortheOLSwasnotauto
detected,preventingelectronicaccesstouidlevel.
5.8.1FLUIDCHECKUSINGDIPSTICK.
Therearetwotemperaturebandsmarkedonthedipsticktoallowfor
transmissionuidexpansionwhenthetemperatureincreases.Thelower
band,referredtoasCOLDCHECK,isusedwhenthetransmissionuidis
belowoperatingtemperature.Theupperband,referredtoasHOTCHECK,
isusedwhenthetransmissionuidisatnormaloperatingtemperature.
TheOEMmayrefertotheseasCOLDFULL/COLDADD(COLDCHECK)
andHOTFULL/HOTADD(HOTCHECK).RefertoFigure5–1forfurther
