Whenstartingtheengine,makesuretheservicebrakes
areapplied.Failuretoapplyservicebrakesmayresultin
unexpectedvehiclemovement.
Ifyouleavethevehicleandtheengineisrunning,thevehicle
canmoveunexpectedlyandyouorotherscouldbeinjured.If
youmustleavetheenginerunning,DONOTLEAVEthevehicle
untilyouhavecompletedallofthefollowingprocedures:
PutthetransmissioninN(Neutral).
Besuretheengineisatlowidle(500–800rpm).
Applytheparkingandemergencybrakesandmakesure
theyareproperlyengaged.
Chockthewheelsandtakeotherstepsnecessarytokeep
thevehiclefrommoving.
Thevehicleservicebrakes,parkingbrake,oremergencybrake
mustbeappliedwheneverN(Neutral)isselectedtoprevent
unexpectedvehiclemovement.SelectingN(Neutral)doesnot
applythevehiclebrakesunlessanauxiliarysystemtoapply
theparkingbrakeisinstalledbytheOEM.
Usingtheretarderonwetorslipperyroadsmaycauseloss
oftractiononthedrivewheels—yourvehiclemayslideout
ofcontrol.Tohelpavoidinjuryorpropertydamage,turnthe
retarderenabletoOFFwhendrivingonwetorslipperyroads.
