Useofthehydraulicretarderduringinclementweatherorwhen
roadsurfacesareslipperycouldresultindeath,seriousinjury,
orpropertydamage.Onvehicleswhichhaveaprimaryretarder
controlbaseduponclosedthrottleposition,brakepedal
position,orbrakeapplypressure,alwaysmanuallydisablethe
retardercontrolsduringinclementweatherorslipperyroad
conditions,usingtheOEMprovidedretarderenableswitchif
present.
Ifthetransmissionretarderdoesnotapply,death,serious
injury,orpropertydamagemayoccur.Operatorshouldbe
preparedtoapplyvehiclebrakesorotherretarderdeviceifthe
transmissionretarderdoesnotapply.
Ifthetransmissionretarderdoesnotfunction,death,serious
injury,orpropertydamagemayoccur.Besuretotestforproper
retarderfunctionperiodically.Ifaretarderispresentbutis
notdetectedby“autodetect,”theretarderwillnotfunction.
Whenevertheretarderdoesnotapply,seekservicehelp
immediately.
•Avoidcontactwiththehotuidorthesumpwhendraining
transmissionuid.Directcontactwiththehotuidorthehot
sumpmayresultinbodilyinjury.
•WithouttheSAEJ1939communicationdatalink,theshift
selectorcannotdisplaytheselectedtransmissionrange.
