3.5TURNINGOFFTHEVEHICLE
AlwaysselectN(Neutral)beforeturningthevehicleoff.
3.6PARKINGBRAKE
WARNING:Ifyouleavethevehicleandtheengineisrunning,the
vehiclecanmoveunexpectedlyandyouorotherscouldbeinjured.If
youmustleavetheenginerunning,DONOTLEAVEthevehicleuntil
youhavecompletedallofthefollowingprocedures:
PutthetransmissioninN(Neutral).
Besuretheengineisatlowidle(500–800rpm).
Applytheparkingandemergencybrakesandmakesurethey
areproperlyengaged.
Chockthewheelsandtakeotherstepsnecessarytokeepthe
vehiclefrommoving.
Theparkingbrakeisonlyintendedtosecureanunattendedvehiclewiththe
ignitionoff.Alwaysmaintainthevehicleparkingbrakesystemaccordingto
themanufacturer’sspecications.Theparkingbrakemaynothavesufcient
capacitytorestrainavehiclewiththeenginerunningandthetransmissionin
aforwardorreverserange.Whenthevehicleisunattendedandtheengine
isrunning,thetransmissionmustbeinN(Neutral)withthebrakesfully
appliedandthewheelschocked.
WARNING:Thevehicleservicebrakes,parkingbrake,oremergency
brakemustbeappliedwheneverN(Neutral)isselectedtoprevent
unexpectedvehiclemovement.SelectingN(Neutral)doesnotapply
thevehiclebrakesunlessanauxiliarysystemtoapplytheparking
brakeisinstalledbytheOEM.
3.7ENGINE–DRIVENPOWERTAKEOFF(PTOALLMODELS
EXCEPTHSANDPTS)
CAUTION:Donotexceedtheengagementandoperationalspeed
limitsimposedonthedrivenequipmentduringtheoperationofthe
PTO.Exceedingthespeedlimitsproduceshighhydraulicpressurein
thePTOthatcandamagethePTOcomponents.Consultthevehicle
manufacturer’sliteratureforthesespeedlimits.
