AllisonTransmissiondesignedtheAllisoncontrolsandcomponentsto

andcomponentscanwithstandmoisture,directlight,heat,andshockloads.
TheTransmissionControlModule(TCM),Allisonshiftselectorsandtheir
connectorsaresealed,butarenotconsideredimmersible.Installationofthe
Allisoncontrolsandcomponentsmustmeettheenvironmentalrequirements
inAllison5thGenerationand6thGenerationControlsData.Inaddition,
mounttheAllisoncontrolsandcomponentsawayfromdirectexposureto
roadhazardsandweather.Inordertomeetthetemperaturelimitslistedin
Allison5thGenerationand6thGenerationControlsData,allowforfreeair
movementaroundeachcomponent.Theairmovementdissipatesheataway
fromthecomponents.Exceedingthetemperaturelimitsreducesthelifeof
thecomponents.
11.4COMPONENTACCESSREQUIREMENTS
Accesstoservicethecontrolsandcomponentsisnecessarythroughoutthe
lifeofthevehicle.Considerserviceaccesstotransmissioncomponents
wheninstallingauxiliaryvehiclecontrolsandcomponents,includingtheeffort
requiredtoremovecovers,bodyparts,orchassismemberstogainaccess
tothetransmissioncomponent(s)beingserviced.
