What to do if my Amana ADB-1 will not drain/ water in tub bottom?
    • B
      Barbara MillerAug 20, 2025
If your Amana Dishwasher isn't draining properly and there's water in the tub bottom, several factors could be at play. If your dishwasher is connected to a food waste disposer, ensure the knock-out plug has been removed from the disposer inlet. Check for any food obstructions in the drain or the disposer itself. Inspect the drain hose for kinks that may be blocking the flow. Also, check your home's circuit breaker or fuse box. Finally, make sure that the wash cycle has fully completed.

    • A
      Anthony CombsAug 22, 2025
If your Amana Dishwasher isn't filling, try these steps: First, press the START/Cancel pad to initiate the dishwasher. Ensure the door is securely latched. Verify that the water supply is turned on. Confirm that the correct cycle is selected. Check your home's circuit breaker or fuse box. Inspect the inlet hose for any kinks. Lastly, examine the water valve inlet for sediment and clean it if necessary.

Why does my Amana ADB-1 leave food soil on dishes?
    • D
      David SalazarAug 25, 2025
If your Amana Dishwasher leaves food soil on dishes, verify that the incoming water temperature is at least 120° F (49° C). Run hot water at the sink before starting the dishwasher. You may want to select the Extra Wash option. Check the water hardness and adjust the detergent amount accordingly. Ensure you're using fresh detergent stored in a cool, dry place. Select the appropriate cycle for the level of food soil. Make sure the upper rack wash arm connector is correctly aligned in one of the water inlet holes. Load items so they do not block the wash arms. Load the utensil basket with knife handles up and spoon and fork handles down. Do not place glasses over tines. Prior to loading, scrape off burnt on foods and wipe the starchy film from utensils used with pasta, rice and oatmeal.

Why are items not properly dried in my Amana Dishwasher?
    • C
      Christian FitzgeraldAug 26, 2025
If items in your Amana Dishwasher aren't drying properly, ensure that the Heated Dry option is selected. Remember that water droplets may form on the inner door as part of the drying process. Use a rinse aid regularly to improve drying. Check that the incoming water temperature is at least 120° F (49° C). Selecting the Sanitize option could also help. Increase the amount of detergent to match your water hardness. Make sure the dishwasher is loaded properly. Note that plastic and items with non-stick surfaces are difficult to dry because they have a porous surface which tends to collect water droplets. Glasses and cups with concave bottoms hold water and require towel drying; place these items on the more slanted side of the rack for improved results.

    What causes Amana ADB-1 leaks?
    • M
      Matthew FrancisAug 28, 2025
If your Amana Dishwasher is leaking, make sure that the dishwasher is level. Suds can cause the dishwasher to overflow, so measure the detergent carefully and only use detergents designed for dishwashers; less detergent is needed in soft water. If sudsing continues, try another brand of detergent. When adding a forgotten item, follow directions closely. To prevent rinse aid from leaking, ensure the dispenser lid is securely attached.

Why are items stained/discolored in my Amana ADB-1 Dishwasher?
    • B
      Brittany RamosSep 1, 2025
If items washed in your Amana Dishwasher are stained or discolored, aluminum utensils or pans can leave marks when they rub against other items, so leave a slight space between them. Iron deposits in the water can leave a yellow, brown, or orange film on dishes or the dishwasher tub. Separate silver or silver-plated silverware from stainless steel. Color from tomato sauces may adhere to the interior parts of the dishwasher. If light staining has occurred, leave the door open to oxidize the stain away and use a dishwasher detergent that contains chlorine. Certain dishwasher detergents may stain silver, so try another brand.

Why does my Amana ADB-1 Dishwasher have an odor?
    • J
      Jonathan LongSep 2, 2025
If your Amana Dishwasher has an odor, try running the dishes through a Rinse Only cycle. Many dishwashers have a “new” smell when first installed, which will fade with use. Ensure the dishwasher is draining properly. For a strong odor, place baking soda in both sides of the detergent cup, select the Quick Wash cycle, and let the water circulate for about 10 minutes. Then, interrupt the cycle and let it stand overnight before restarting. Alternatively, use a dishwasher cleaning product.

Why does Amana ADB-1 Dishwasher cycle take too long?
    • A
      Andrew WilkinsSep 4, 2025
If your Amana Dishwasher cycle is taking too long and the Heating Delay light is on, it could be because Extra Wash or Sanitize has been selected, which extends the cycle to heat the water. Also, check that the incoming water temperature is at least 120° F (49° C).

Why is my Amana ADB-1 Dishwasher so noisy?
    • T
      Tammy MolinaSep 6, 2025
If your Amana Dishwasher seems noisy, remember that a water valve hiss during fill and water circulation sounds are normal. A thumping sound may occur if a wash arm is bumping an item extending beyond the racks; readjust the load to avoid obstructing the wash arm. Chopping or grinding sounds may be heard as the internal food disposer chops hard items. Humming during the drain is normal. A snap noise is the detergent cup lid hitting the door liner when the dishwasher door is opened at the end of the cycle. Proper installation affects the noise level.

What causes chipped dishware in Amana Dishwasher?
    • B
      Brian WallaceSep 8, 2025
If your dishware is chipped after using your Amana Dishwasher, load dishes according to instructions so they do not strike each other. Avoid washing fine antique china/crystal in the dishwasher. Do not load glasses over the tines, and avoid overloading the dishwasher.
