PATCH BAY
This synth features a pin matrix patch bay, similar to the vintage EMS synths and
our own Colossus synth.
The pins are custom made 2.5mm jack plugs.
Note: you can’t patch in or out signals directly from the pin matrix unless you make
yourself custom leads. The sockets do not use the ground pin. Both connections of the
sockets carry signals.
The sockets and plugs do not have an earth/ground path. The tip and ring are used
for input and output signal. Use the EXT sockets to bring external signals into the
matrix.
Two 3.5mm sockets are provided to allow patching in / out of the panel, labelled
EXT1 and EXT2.
Pin patching is in principle the same as using cables on other modular synths.
Send outputs to inputs!
The advantage of a matrix panel is you can send one signal to more than one
destination. Simple mixing / averaging can be done by patching more than one signal
to one destination. Depending on the patch, the signal will be mixed, or averaged.
Averaging means the level of each destination signal might appear to affect the level
of the other signals.
