2.6 Operation
2.6.1 Configuration
Before operating the unit, you should configure DWEx parameters and functions using the
administration software of the central exchange used for intercom communication system.
For DWEx configuration the IPN1.1 system administration software should be used,
which is described in the document “IPN 1.1 decentralized Public Address system,
Administrator Manual. Part 2.” RMLT.465300.001 or DCN administration software, which is
described in the document “DCN communication system. User Manual. Part 2. Administrator
Manual” RMLT.465275.002. These documents contain information on configuration data and
programming technique with DWEx unit being incorporated into the communication
system.
Powering up activates the procedure for establishing communication with the central
exchange via the Uk
0
-interface line, during which the necessary initialization data is loaded
into DWEx. During the initialization time, all indicators will turn on periodically; at the end of
the installation processes, all indicators will turn off.
2.6.2 Product operating modes
DWEx unit enables to realize different communication modes, depending on
the possibilities and configuration of the communication system. An individual function can
be assigned to each DWEx key / key, for example, a call of a subscriber or a group,
reproduction of a speech fragment.
The main mode of communication is loud-speaking simplex communication
(intercom), which is implemented in all communication systems. In this mode, the outgoing
connection with the desired subscriber is established by pressing the programmed direct
communication key, immediately after that it is possible to transmit a voice message through
the integrated DWEx microphone. When the key is released and there are no calls the DWEx
unit is in waiting mode. Similarly, a group call and a public address are made, at which
the signal is broadcast simultaneously to all participants in the group, including the public
address amplifiers. After the end of the out-going connection, the unit returns to the initial
ready-to-talk state. Answer of the subscriber, or voice calls from other subscribers will be
immediately received by the DWEx speaker.
Within the DCN and IPN communication system, when communicating with duplex
subscriber devices, for example, telephones, a half-duplex communication mode with
manual control can be used. In this case, communication between DWEx unit and
the telephone set is carried out in both directions without termination of the connection,
until the “clear” key on the DWEx unit is pressed or the handset is replaced. During
the connection, the DWEx unit subscriber controls the direction of voice transmission by
