change the name of DO S.SYS. If DOS. SYS is renamed, the DOS
menu will no longer load.
When Rename File is specified, the foll ow ing prompt will
appear.
RENAME,
GIVE OLD NAME , NEW
OLD NAME will cons ist of the file specification of th e file to be
renamed.
If a driv e ide ntifi er is not includ ed in the file
specification, drive 1 will be
assu med.
The NEW NAME
will consist of th e n ew filename for the file
specified in
OLD NAME. Fil ename match characte rs ca n be used
with both the OLD NAME and NEW NAME parameters.
A
lo cked file ca nnot be renamed. Any attempt to do so will result
in
error 16 7 (File Locked ).
A file on a diskette that ha s been write-protected c annot be
renamed.
Any attempt to do so will r es ult in error 144 (Device
Done Error).
Also,
if the u se r attempts to rena me a file that does not exist on
th e diskett e, error 170 will occur (F ile Not Found).
