Appendix
E.
Atari
PEEK
and
POKE
Locations
This
appendix
lists me
mory
addresses that BASIC
programmers
may wish
to
access via
the
PEEK
or
POKE
statements.
In BASIC,
memory
addresses
as
well
as
the
contents
at
those
addresses are given in decimal
notation.
Each
address contains a
value
between
0 and
255.
Two
consecutive addresses are
required
to
store
numbers
greater than
256.
I n these instances, the val ue
of
the
fi rst add
ress
plus the
va
lue
of
the second address
multiplied
by 256will result
in
the
total
va
lu
e.
For example,
PEEK
(97)
+
256
*
PEEK
(98)
will
return
the
ending
graphics cursor co
lumn.
Most
Atari me
mory
locations are referred
to
by name
as
well
as
by
decimal
memory
address. Both are given in
Appendix
E.
