The
different
graphics
modes
use
differing
numbers
of
colours,
but
they
are
all
controlled
in
the
same
way.
As
described
in
Chapter
12,
there
are
five
colour
registers
which
control
the
display
colours.
The
SETCOLOR
command
is
used
to
select
the
colour
produced
by
each
register.
The
colours
of
objects
displayed
on
the
screen
are
set
by
indicating
which
colour
register
is
to
control
their
colour.
The
command
COLOR
selects
the
colour
to
be
used.
The
command
is
followed
by
a
number
which
indicates
the
colour
selection,
but
the
number
is
not
always
that
of
the
required
colour
register,
which
can
be a
little
confusing.
In
mode
5,
four
colors
are
used.
The
background
colour
is
controlled
by
colour
register
4,
register
3
is
not
used,
and
registers
0, 1
and
2
hold
the
(foreground'
colours.
The
colours
to
be
used
are
selected
by
COLOR
as
follows:
COLOR
0
Selects
the
background
colour.
COLOR
1
Selects
the
register
0
colour.
COLOR
2
Selects
the
register
1
colour.
COLOR
3
Selects
the
register
2
colour.
When
you
first
enter
mode
5,
the
colour
selected
in
the
background
colour
(COLOR 0)
held
in
colour
register
4.
Type
.
GRAPHICS 5
COLOR
1
so
that
you
are
ready
to
start
drawing.
