Replacing windshield wiper blades

.. Bring the windshield wipers to the service
posit ion ¢

.. Lift the wiper arm away from the wind-
shield .
.. Squeeze the plastic bracket on the wind-
shield wiper a rm together on both sides @

.. Turn the wiper blade away from the wiper
arm.
.. Lift t he wiper blade off in the direc t ion of
the a rrow @ .
Installing wiper blade
.. Place the new wiper blade in the retainer on
the wiper arm © ¢

.. Swing t he wipe r blade in the d irection of the
arrow @ agai nst the wiper arm .
.. Squeeze the corrugation on the wiper until
you hear the bracket click in the wiper arm .
.. Place the wiper arm back against the wind-
shield .

If the wiper blades begin to streak the wind -
shield, this cou ld be caused by residue left on
the windshie ld by automatic car washes .
Fill the windshield washe r containe r with a
special solution availab le at your authorized
Audi dealer to remove the resid ue.
A WARNING
For your safety, you shou ld rep lace the
wiper blades once or twice a year. See your
authorized Audi dealer for replacement
blades.

- The windshie ld wiper blades must only
be replaced when in the service pos ition

- To help prevent damage to the wiper sys-
tem, always loosen blades wh ich are fro-
zen to the windshield before operating
wipers.
- To help prevent damage to wiper blades ,
do not use gaso line, kerosene, paint
t hinne r, or ot her so lvent s on or near the
wiper blades .
- To help prevent da mage to the wiper
arms or ot her comp onents, do not at-
tempt to move t he wipe rs by hand.
