Usage Features
Installation:
- Safety First: Installation must comply with local and national codes (National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1 in the US; CAN/CGA-8149.1 or CAN/CGA-8149.2 in Canada).
- Qualified Personnel: Installation must be performed by qualified and authorized persons.
- Gas Pressure Regulator: A supplied gas pressure regulator must be installed on the gas supply line. It is factory set for 4" WC (natural gas) and 10" WC (LPG). Failure to install this regulator voids the warranty.
- Gas Supply Line: Must be at least 3/4" NPT in diameter.
- Manual Shutoff Valve: A manual shutoff valve must be installed in an easily accessible location.
- Gas Conversion: Appliances are factory-produced for natural gas (NG) but can be converted to propane gas (LPG) using the included accessory kit (injectors and a lighter). This conversion must be performed by a licensed and qualified technician. The manual provides detailed steps for converting griddles, charbroilers, and hot plates, including changing injectors and adjusting the pressure regulator.
- LPG Installation: For low-pressure LPG, a two-stage regulating valve system is required, with specific pressure requirements.
First-Time Use:
- Protective Film Removal: Remove all PVC film, plastics, straps, and protective film from the product.
- Initial Cleaning: Griddles and charbroilers are coated with vegetable shortening/oil and brown paper for protection during shipping. These must be removed, and the surfaces cleaned with a sponge, mild soap, and water.
- Burn-in Procedure: For griddles and charbroilers, turn on the burners for about 15 minutes to burn off any residue before first use.
- Pilot Ignition: Instructions are provided for lighting the pilot flames and adjusting their height (approximately 0.5 cm).
- Burner Ignition: Turn the knob counterclockwise to light the main burners. Ensure the burner is lit; if not, repeat the procedure. For thermostatic griddles, press and rotate the handle to the pilot position, hold for 10 seconds after ignition, then turn to the desired temperature.
Safety Information:
- Indoor Use Only: These appliances are designed for indoor use.
- Professional Use: Intended for industrial/professional use only.
- No Unauthorized Alterations: Any unauthorized alterations or tampering will void all warranties and are dangerous.
- Hot Surfaces: Accessible parts become hot during use; keep children away.
- Gas Leaks: Periodically check hoses and regulators for expiration dates. If a gas smell is detected, turn off the gas, check for leaks with a soap solution, and contact a certified technician if leaks persist.
- Ventilation: Do not obstruct gas flow or ventilation.
- Moving Equipment: Use three or more people or a load lifting device to move and install. Never move or slide the product when hot.
- No Cold Water on Hot Griddle: Do not flood a hot griddle with cold water to prevent warping and cracking.
Maintenance Features
General Maintenance:
- Regular Cleaning: Clean the product daily after use to remove food residue.
- Gas Connections: Before any maintenance, ensure gas connections, regulators, or check valves are completely closed and disconnected.
- Authorized Technicians: Maintenance should only be performed by a manufacturer-authorized technician.
- Reconnection: If removable parts are disconnected for maintenance, they must be reconnected correctly before using the equipment again.
Cleaning:
- Cool Down: Always allow the product to cool completely before cleaning.
- Waste Drawer: Remove the waste drawer for debris removal and cleaning.
- Exterior Cleaning: Use a non-abrasive sponge with mild detergent and water. For deposited grease, apply a cleanser in the direction of the polished lines on the metal; avoid circular motions.
- Interior Cleaning: Use a non-alkaline cleaning agent. Do not use abrasive products. Rinse well with room temperature water and dry thoroughly.
- Griddle/Charbroiler Cleaning: Use a kitchen spatula to facilitate cleaning residues on griddle flat-tops and charbroiler grills.
- Post-Cleaning: After cleaning, turn on gas ranges, charbroilers, and burners to remove moisture. For manual and thermostatic griddles, clean and grease the flat-top with vegetable oil to prevent oxidation.
