3 How FRITZ!Card Works
21
Data compression is activated or deactivated at the request of
an ISDN application such as FRITZ!data.
In addition to the digital features listed above, FRITZ!Card also
enables such analog services as Group 3 fax (CAPI SoftFax G3)
and Modem (CAPI SoftModem V32).
CAPI SoftFax G3
The driver software allows FRITZ!Card to be used with all CAPI-
based Windows fax applications. The controller allows faxes to
be sent and received at a rate of up to 14,400 baud and signals
like any Group 3 fax machine.
CAPI SoftModem V32bis
FRITZ!Card also provides the CAPI SoftModem V32bis feature.
On the basis of this modem emulation, it is possible to connect
from an ISDN connection to any analog remote party with a
modem accessible from the telephone network.
Supplementary Drivers for Windows Dial-up Networking
The TCP/IP Internet protocol is a component of the Windows
operating system. Additional drivers must be linked to the
operating system before this protocol can be used with the ISDN-
Controller. AVM provides the AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver and the
NDIS WAN CAPI Driver for this purpose. Thanks to these drivers,
TCP/IP can be used through CAPI. For more information about
these drivers, see Chapter 4 FRITZ!Card in ISDN and the Inter-
net.
