providedtokeepotherboatsinformedofyourpresenceandcourse.Itisup
toyoutomakesuretheyareoperational,displayedcorrectly,andturnedon
whenrequired.
YourboatisequippedwithanEmergencySafetyLanyard(cutoswitch).Werecommend
thatthelanyardbesecuredtotheoperatorandthelockplateattachedtotheemergencycuto
switchpriortostartingtheengineandanytimetheengineisoperating.The
EmergencySafetyLanyardisdesignedtoturnotheenginewhenevertheop-
eratormovesfarenoughawayfromthehelmtoactivatetheswitch.Thepur-
poseistostoptheengine,propeller,andboatintheeventtheoperatorleaves
thehelmlocation,fallsoverboard,orisejectedfromtheboat.Iftheengineis
stoppeditwillpreventtheboatfrombecomingarun-away,unmannedboat,
whichmaycauseinjuryordeathtoboatoccupantswhohavefallenoverboard
orbeenejected,ortoothernearbypeople.Iftheenginestopsitwillminimize
thesubsequentopportunityforpropellercontactwiththeoperatororother
personsinthewater.Iftheengineandboatstopitwillaordopportunityfor
theoperatororotherpersonswhohavefallenoverboardtosafelyre-boardthe
boat.
