The AXUS AXK4 is an electronic drum kit designed for learning, practice, and performance. It features a sound module that generates drum sounds based on input from various drum pads and cymbals. The kit includes three teaching modes to help users develop speed, accuracy, and a sense of rhythm. It also offers recording capabilities, allowing users to capture their performances. The drum kit can be connected to external devices such as computers, active speakers, headphones, and audio input sources, expanding its functionality for composition, playback, and silent practice.

Usage Features

Installation: The manual provides a step-by-step guide for assembling the drum kit, starting with checking included items, fitting stand pipes, installing drum pads, mounting brackets, cymbals, the sound module, and pedals. It emphasizes careful handling to avoid pinching fingers and proper tightening of screws. A crucial step involves correctly inserting the signal connection cable, with each drum/cymbal noted on the colored cable end for accurate connection to the sound module. The foot switch for the kick pedal must be set to "B" mode for proper operation.

Sound Module Diagram: The sound module features clearly labeled ports for power supply (DC 9V), USB MIDI, audio output, audio input (AUX IN), and headphones. An ON/OFF switch controls the power.

Operation Guide:

  • Power: Connect the DC 9V plug and slide the POWER switch to the right to turn on. Slide to the left to turn off.
  • Drum Kit Selection: Press the KIT button, then use the parameter wheel or -/+ buttons to select from 15 available drum kits.
  • Metronome: Press the METRONOME button to enter metronome mode. Adjust speed (BPM) using the parameter wheel or -/+ buttons. Press CLICK to start/stop. Further adjustments for beat type, beat number, and volume are available via the SELECT button.
  • Practice Function & Coach Mode: Press the COACH button to enter coach mode. Select one of three practice modes (C-1 beat detection, C-2 silent strike, C-3 speed strike) using the data wheel or -/+ button. The C-1 mode focuses on beat accuracy at a fixed speed, C-2 introduces silent sections for advanced accuracy training, and C-3 varies speed from slowest to fastest and back. After a session, a score from 0-100 evaluates accuracy.
  • Demo Songs: Press the SONG button to enter demo mode. Select from 30 demo songs using the parameter wheel or -/+ buttons. Use the < ►▷ button to start/stop playback. The drum sound can be toggled on/off for demo songs.
  • Drum Parameters: Press the KIT button, then SELECT to enter parameter adjustment mode. Tap the desired drum and use -/+ buttons to select parameters like Sensitivity (S), Trigger threshold (t), Repeated trigger (r), Drum Force (V), Crosstalk threshold (c), and Drum volume (L). Adjust values with the parameter wheel. Note that tom drums cannot be set individually.
  • Recording Function: Press the < REC > button (when in "KIT" and "CLICK" states) to enter recording preparation. Tap any drum to start recording. Press < REC > or < PLAY > to stop. Press < ►▷ to play back the recording.
  • Save / Reset: Long press the <-> button to save parameters (SAV displayed). Long press the <+> button to reset to factory settings (RES displayed).
  • USB MIDI: Connect a USB-B data cable (not included) to the control unit and a PC/Smartphone to use the MIDI function for learning, composing, and storing music.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance:

  • Careful Maintenance: Extends product life and reduces faults.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry (or slightly damp) cloth. Avoid paint thinners, solvents, alcohol, cleaning fluids, or chemical-impregnated wiping cloths.

Safety Precautions (Warnings and Cautions):

  • Avoid Heat, Damp, or Direct Sunlight: Do not expose to excessive dust, vibrations, extreme cold/heat, or direct sunlight.
  • Proximity to Electronics: Avoid using near TVs, radios, stereo equipment, mobile phones, or other electric devices to prevent noise interference.
  • Chemicals: Do not use chemicals for cleaning.
  • Stability: Do not place the product in unstable positions or areas with excessive vibration to prevent accidental falls and injury.
  • Power Supply: Use only the supplied DC 9V AC adapter. Turn off power when not in use and unplug for long storage.
  • Power Cable Handling:
    • Use the designated power cord.
    • Ensure AC power supply is within the rated voltage range.
    • Do not overload power sockets or extension lines.
    • Do not place heavy objects on cables, alter/bend cables excessively, twist/pull cables. Replace damaged cables.
    • Do not touch the power cord or plug with wet hands.
    • Do not use the power cable near water.
    • Do not place water containers on the product.
    • Do not allow minors to unplug/touch power cables.
    • Never pull on the cable; grasp the main body of the plug.
    • Insert the plug fully into the socket.
    • Turn off power before connecting/disconnecting.
    • Disconnect power during thunderstorms or long absences.
    • Clean dust from the power cable and wall outlet annually.
  • Do Not Burn: Do not put the product in fire to prevent combustion, explosion, and injury.
  • Water and Foreign Bodies: If water or foreign objects enter the product, immediately turn off power, unplug, and contact the dealer.
  • Disassembly and Modification: The product contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to disassemble or modify internal parts to avoid electric shock, scald, or injury.
  • Bracket Assembly: Ensure correct assembly of the bracket according to instructions to prevent falls and injury. Dispose of plastic bags properly to avoid asphyxia.
  • Connections: Set all volume levels to minimum before turning power on/off. Gradually raise volume to desired listening level. Excessive volume can cause hearing damage. Connect only to designated equipment to avoid fire or electric shocks.
  • Handling: Do not insert foreign materials into openings. Do not rest weight on the product or use excessive force on buttons/switches/connectors. Avoid prolonged use of headphones at high volumes to prevent permanent hearing loss. Unplug from AC outlet before cleaning.
