Step 5
Unplug HomePlug Z and then connect it to your Ethernet device using the Ethernet cables
from the product package. After connecting the Ethernet cable, plug HomePlug Z directly to
a wall outlet. An Ethernet-enabled device can be a router, computer, hub, gaming console,
IP phone, network printer, or IP TV set-top box.
Note: HomePlug AVs work best when connected directly to a wall socket. Avoid plugging it
to a power strip or power extension. The other electrical devices in the power strip create
noise that may affect the performance of the HomePlug.
Enhance your HomePlug AV Performance
While Powerline devices delivers data over the existing electrical wiring in the house, the
actual overall performance of your HomePlug AV network may be affected by electrical
noises or the length of the wiring. To improve HomePlug AV performance, please refer to
below recommendations while placing your HomePlug AV devices.
AC Outlets Connection
- Avoid connecting your HomePlug AV devices to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or
backup power supply device. For best results, plugging the adapters directly to a wall
outlet is recommended.
- Avoid connecting high-power consuming appliances to the same wall outlet.
