• Cleantheoutsideofthemotoratleastquarterlytoensurepropermotorcooling.
• Afterprolongedshutdowns,checkthemotorinsulationwithaninsulationtesterprior
torestartingthemotor.
• Checkthemotorvoltageandcurrentfollowingstart-upandeverythreemonthswhile
inoperation.
Adjustable Motor Base
Coatthemotorbaseslidesandadjustingscrewspriortostart-up,everythreemonthswhile
inoperation,andfollowingshutdown.Usegoodqualitycorrosioninhibitinggreasesuchas
oneofthoserecommendedforlubricatingthefanshaftbearingsonpage 17.
Fan Shaft Bearings
Twopillowblockballbearingssupportthefanshaft.Eachbearingisequippedwitha
lubricationttingandaslinger/lockingcollartokeepoutmoisture.
Inspection & Maintenance
• OnlylubricatethebearingswithamanualgreasegunorBAC’soptionalAutomatic
BearingGreaser.Donotusehigh-pressuregreasegunssincetheymayrupturethe
bearingseals.
• Onlylubricatethebearingswithoneofthefollowingcompatiblewaterresistant
greaseswhicharesuitableforambienttemperaturesrangingfrom-65ºF(-53.9ºC)to
+250ºF(121.1ºC).

cycles per hour to prevent motor
overload.

pressure (EP) additives are not
recommended, and should never be
used on cooling towers with gear
drives.
