Assembly

Solar Panel Attachment and Charging

Attach solar panel to umbrella top, connect wire, screw in clockwise. Remove protective film. Charge battery for 8 hours before first use with switch OFF.

Base and Pole Assembly

Assemble cross legs, then attach holder pole using bolts and washers. Ensure correct positioning and tighten bolts carefully.

Umbrella Operation

Opening the Umbrella

Function Description:

The Backyard Creations 10' Solar Offset Umbrella is designed to provide sunshade and serve as a decorative element. It features integrated solar lights for illumination. The umbrella is intended for easy operation and is not recommended for use during periods of high wind and rain. Users are advised to take the umbrella down when not in use, during high or gusting wind and rain, and in the off-season to prevent personal injury and/or property damage. The design includes an offset pole, allowing for flexible placement without a central obstruction.

Usage Features:

Solar Powered Lights: The umbrella includes solar-powered lights. The solar panel (S) is inserted into a socket on the top of the umbrella and screwed clockwise. It is crucial to remove the plastic film from the solar panel before use. For first use, the solar umbrella should be placed under sunlight for 8 hours to charge the battery. The switch on the umbrella rib must be in the OFF position during charging.
Opening and Closing:
1. Unfasten storage straps.
2. Unlock the extension arm clamp (K) and the vertical lift mechanism clamp (H).
3. Extend the umbrella extension arm outwards while lifting the vertical lift mechanism upwards to fully open the umbrella arm.
4. Once the umbrella arm is fully extended, lock both clamps (K and H).
5. Slide the lock cover (G) into the locking mechanism on the back of the vertical lift mechanism.
6. Turn the ON/OFF switch for the solar lights as desired.
7. Turn the crank (J) clockwise to open the umbrella canopy completely.
8. To close, turn the crank (J) counter-clockwise.
Folding for Storage:
1. Before lowering, slide back the lock cover (G) away from the vertical lift mechanism. Failure to do so can cause non-repairable damage to the locking parts (K and H).
2. Unlock the extension arm clamp (K) and the vertical lift mechanism clamp (H).
3. Retract the umbrella extension arm inwards while pushing the vertical lift mechanism downwards to fully fold the umbrella.
Wind and Rain Precautions: The umbrella should always be taken down during high or gusting wind and rain. It should also be taken down when not in use and during the off-season.
Placement Warning: Placing the umbrella over or near a swimming pool may cause premature fading, which is not covered under warranty.

Maintenance Features:

Canopy Care:
- Clean the umbrella canopy with a soft brush and mild detergent.
- DO NOT machine wash or dry.
- DO NOT iron.
- Air dry the canopy thoroughly before storing for extended periods. Ensure the canopy is completely open during drying to prevent shrinkage.
Battery Replacement:
- Recommended annually or when light output diminishes.
- Requires a Phillips head screwdriver (not included).
- Steps:
  1. Screw counterclockwise to remove the solar panel from the top of the umbrella.
  2. Pull out the plug from the socket under the solar panel by holding the plug, not the wires.
  3. Place the solar panel upside down on a flat, non-abrasive surface. Loosen all screws on the solar panel bottom case.
  4. Carefully open the bottom case. Replace the battery with a new (1) 18650 Lithium 2000mAh rechargeable battery, matching the +/- polarity.
  5. Carefully put the bottom case back, align screw holes, and tighten the screws. Do not overtighten.
- Battery Warnings:
  - Failure to insert the battery with correct polarity may shorten battery life or cause leakage.
  - Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
  - Recycle or dispose of batteries per state and local guidelines.
  - Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types (Alkaline, Standard Carbon-Zinc, Rechargeable Nickel Cadmium, or Nickel Metal Hydride).
