2. Connect both double hoses to the other connector.
This creates a closed system.
3. Now let O

ow until the breathing bag has inated
like a balloon. Then switch o the unit (do not inate
too much as the bag may tear).
4. The bag should remain inated for 5 minutes. The test
can then be considered successful and there are no
leaks. If the bag does not stay inated, there must be a
leak in your nitrous oxide system and/or the bag may
have to be replaced.
5. Now remove again one of the double hoses from the
plastic connector and reinstall the nasal mask.
Weekly check: Bag T
To perform a weekly check on the suction of ambient air,
inhale through the spiral hose with the unit switched o.
When the breathing bag is deated, the valve for suc-
tioning ambient air opens on the Bag T. After this test,
check the non-return valve, which prevents the patient
rebreathing into the breathing bag. Pu slightly into
the spiral hose for this. The breathing bag should not ll
with your exhaled air. Now close the spiral hose connec-
tor and pu into the breathing bag connector. The air
should not pass through the valve. The spiral hose and
breathing bag must be autoclaved after the tests and
the breathing bag connector must be cleaned as per the
Hygiene section.
Monthly check: Leak detection spray
-
tion spray which is sprayed on all screw joints and con-
nections on the mixer and pressure reducers. The leak
detection spray consists of soap and water, and bubbles
form quickly at the site of any leak. This test is performed
for each cylinder change, and monthly at least (also after
returning the unit for checking and before initial opera-
tion). All leaks should be rectied immediately. The gas
cylinders should also be turned o completely; there
should be no appreciable drop in pressure for an hour.
but cannot manipulate data saved to the Baldus Touch
directory.
If one of the following regular checks fails, the oxy-
gen-nitrous oxide mixer must be sent in for inspection!
Check before each use:
Nitrous oxide lock
1. Open both gas cylinders.
2. Press the On switch.
3. Set the total ow to at least 7 litres per minute.
4. Set the concentration controller (left arrow keys) to
50% N
2
O.
5. Now close the oxygen cylinder.
6. The O
2
and N
2
O bars become smaller. After a short
while, the Check O
2
information signal appears and no
more N
2
O is delivered.
7. If only nitrous oxide is owing and no oxygen, do not
perform any further treatments and send in the unit
immediately for maintenance! These mechanisms rule
out the patient breathing in pure N
2
O!
Weekly check:
Check for leaks
1. Remove the double nasal mask and one of the two
hard plastic connectors from the double hose.
