14. RECTIFYING PROBLEMS
Problem Potential causes Solutions
Insufcient heat Gas supply not open
Venturi tubes not situated above the
openings of the gas valves
Burner openings blocked
Gas bottle (almost) empty
Pressure regulator not correctly connected
to bottle and/or hose
Open gas supply
Place venturi tubes above the openings of
the gas valves
Clean burner openings or replace burners
Replace gas bottle
Reconnect pressure regulator to bottle and/
or hose
Too hot and/or are-ups Food too fatty
Fat drain openings blocked,
fat in bowl, and/or on burners
Temperature too high
Cut off excess fat or select a lower heat for
the burners
Clean fat drain opening, bowl, and burners
Select a lower heat for the burners and/or
grill food indirectly
Heat not evenly distributed
over grill surface
Some difference in heat is normal, see
"1.7 Using the heat efciently" and "10.6
Using the heat zones". Potential causes of
considerable differences in heat:
Appliance not pre-heated
Pre-heat appliance
Yellow ames Burners or venturi tubes blocked
Salt on burners
Appliance connected to butane
Clean burners and venturi tubes
Clean burners
Connect appliance to propane and use a
suitable pressure regulator
Incomplete ame Burner blocked, pierced, or corroded Clean or replace burner
Flashbacks (ames outside
of venturi tubes/at control
knobs)
Burners or venturi tubes blocked Close the gas supply and set the burners to
OFF.
Allow the appliance to cool.
Clean burners and venturi tubes.
Flames higher than edge of
bowl
Wind
Gas bottle (almost) empty
Fat in bowl and/or on burners
Turn rear of appliance to wind
Replace gas bottle
Clean bowl and burners
Pressure regulator buzzing Warm weather
