Why does the magnetic navigation stylet icon have erratic behavior on my Bard Sherlock 3CG Tip Confirmation System?
    • S
      Sheila SimmonsAug 18, 2025
If the magnetic navigation stylet icon on your Bard Medical Equipment exhibits erratic behavior, it could be due to the stylet being at the edge of the sensor's depth range (3 to 11 cm) or magnetic interference. Try pulling the catheter back until the stylet icon is stable, verify the catheter is moving in the correct direction, and continue placement. If magnetic interference is the issue, pull the catheter tip back at least 12 inches (30 cm) from the sensor, recalibrate, and re-advance the catheter. It might also be that too much time has passed since calibration, so recalibrating might help.

What to do if magnetic navigation does not detect the stylet on Bard Medical Equipment?
    • T
      trevor02Aug 20, 2025
If the magnetic navigation on your Bard Medical Equipment does not detect the stylet, ensure the sensor is correctly oriented per the procedure. If the vein is deep, make sure the top of the sensor on the insertion side is touching the patient's skin. If the vein is shallow, lift the sensor away from the skin. Recalibrate, ensuring the catheter tip is at least 12 inches (30 cm) from the sensor. Also, ensure the stylet is within 1 cm of the catheter tip, and verify that you are using a compatible Bard Access Systems’ catheter kit. If the stylet magnet is trimmed off, replace the catheter with a new one from a labeled kit.

What does it mean when the magnetic navigation stylet icon disappears on Bard Medical Equipment?
    • B
      Brandi ThomasAug 23, 2025
If the magnetic navigation stylet icon disappears and a "sweeping magnifying glass" is displayed on your Bard Medical Equipment, it is likely that the stylet is out of the sensor’s depth range (3 to 11 cm) or there is magnetic interference. Pull the catheter back until the stylet icon is stable, and verify the catheter is moving in the correct direction, continuing placement using ECG guidance and catheter measurement. If magnetic interference is the cause, pull the catheter tip back at least 12 inches (30 cm) from the sensor, recalibrate, and re-advance the catheter. This issue can also occur if too much time has passed since calibration, so recalibrating might help.

How to troubleshoot a poor ECG signal on Bard Sherlock 3CG Tip Confirmation System Medical Equipment?
    • N
      Nancy BarreraAug 26, 2025
If you observe a poor ECG signal on your Bard Medical Equipment, ensure the fin and stylet connectors are fully seated and the ECG electrode contact area on the skin is oil-free and completely dry. Patient movement or extraneous noise can also cause this issue, so ask the patient to remain still and avoid touching the stylet or electrodes. Damaged ECG electrodes should be replaced. Make sure the catheter is locked with saline and that catheter T-lock connections are fully seated, flushing the catheter lumen with saline. If using an external ECG signal, place the black electrode on the patient’s right shoulder (Lead II view).

What causes a flat-line ECG signal on Bard Medical Equipment and how to fix it?
    • J
      Jonathan WilliamsAug 28, 2025
If you're experiencing a flat-line ECG signal on your Bard Medical Equipment, fully seat the fin on the sensor. Ensure there is proper ECG electrode connection by making sure the skin where the electrodes are placed is oil-free and completely dry. Replace any damaged ECG electrodes and ensure catheter T-lock connections are fully seated. If there is an air bubble at the catheter tip, flush the catheter lumen containing the stylet with saline. Also, fully seat the stylet connector on the fin.

Why is the ECG screen not visible on my Bard Sherlock 3CG Tip Confirmation System Medical Equipment?
    • K
      Kevin Black DVMAug 30, 2025
If the ECG screen is not visible on your Bard Medical Equipment, ensure you are using a compatible sensor with product code number 9770131. Also, verify that the correct PICC Compatibility is selected in the settings. In Ultrasound Mode, select Settings, then ‘Layout’ and choose ‘Ultrasound and S3CG,’ then select ‘Apply.’ In TCS Mode, select Settings, and under ‘PICC Compatibility,’ select ‘Magnet and ECG,’ then ‘Apply.’

What should I do if the ECG signal is abnormal on my Bard Sherlock 3CG Tip Confirmation System Medical Equipment?
    • A
      Amanda MckinneySep 2, 2025
If you notice an abnormal ECG signal on your Bard Medical Equipment, ensure that the ECG leads are placed correctly. If there is no distinct P-wave, do not rely on ECG guidance for catheter tip confirmation.

Why is the ECG baseline wandering on my Bard Sherlock 3CG Tip Confirmation System?
    • N
      Noah AndersonSep 5, 2025
If you are experiencing a wandering ECG baseline on your Bard Medical Equipment, ensure that the area on the skin where the ECG electrodes were placed is oil-free and completely dry. Patient movement or extraneous noise can also cause this issue, so ask the patient to remain still and avoid touching the stylet or electrodes. Additionally, ensure catheter T-lock connections are fully seated and flush the catheter lumen containing the stylet with saline.

What does 'Sensor Error' mean on Bard Sherlock 3CG Tip Confirmation System Medical Equipment?
    • G
      ggonzalezSep 7, 2025
If the Bard Medical Equipment displays a 'Sensor Error,' it may be due to interference from magnetic field changes or sensor movement. Move all metal objects at least 12 inches (30 cm) away from the sensor, lower bed rails, and move active electronic devices at least 5 feet (1.5 m) away. Ensure the sensor is not moving and ask the patient to remain still. Calibrate the system. If the error continues, discontinue use and call the technical support hotline.
