Thank you for choosing a product from Bauerfeind. MalleoTrain® is a high-
quality medical product.
Please carefully read through the following instructions for use. Should
you have any questions please contact your doctor, medical retailer or our
Customer Service department.
MalleoTrain®, an active ankle support, produces its special effect primarily
during movement and therapeutic exercises. The anatomically contoured
viscoelastic inserts (pressure pads) compress and massage the soft tissues of
the joint. Enhanced circulation in the joint and promotion of lymph drainage
lead to reduced swelling, pain relief and improved function.
MalleoTrain® must be fi tted for initial use by a trained specialist, otherwise
we cannot accept any liability for the product.
Indications
•
Post-operative and post-traumatic irritation (e.g. after sprains)
•
Joint effusion and swelling associated with degenerative changes in the
ankle (osteoarthritis) and joint infl ammation (arthritis)
•
Muscle and tendon disorders (tendomyopathies)
•
Ligamental weaknesses
Side effects
With the assumption of proper fi tting, no side effects involving the body as a
whole have been reported to date. Supports and orthoses

applied externally
to the body can, if tightened excessively, lead to localized pressure or, rarely,
constrict the underlying blood vessels or nerves.
Contra-indications
Hypersensitive reactions, harmful to health have not been reported to
date. For patients experiencing the following conditions, such supports
and orthoses should only be fi tted and applied after consultation with your
medical provider:
1. Skin disorders/injuries in the relevant part of the body, particularly if
infl ammation is present. Likewise, any raised scars with swelling, redness
and excessive heat build-up.
2. Impaired sensation and circulatory disorders of the legs/feet, “e. g.,
Diabetes“.
3. Impaired lymph drainage – including soft tissue swelling of uncertain
origin, located remotely from the fi tted aid.

Fitting MalleoTrain®
1. Fold the upper part of the support outwards until you can grip the heel.
2. Pull the support over the foot up to the heel.
3. Fold back the folded-over part of the support.
4. Then pull it up until the bones of the ankle rest in the rounded hollows of
the pads.
5. Adjust the fi t of the support as necessary.
Important Information
• MalleoTrain® is a prescribed product that should be applied under a
physician‘s guidance. MalleoTrain® should only be applied in accordance
with these instructions for use and for the specifi ed areas of application.
• The product is intended to be fi tted only once, to one patient.
• No liability is accepted for improper use of the product.
• Changes must not be made to the product. Non compliance can reduce the
performance of the product, thus no liability will be accepted.
• Should you notice any unusual changes (e. g., increased symptoms), please
contact your medical provider without delay.
• A combination with other products (e.g., compression stockings) must be
discussed beforehand with your medical provider.
• The product’s unique benefi ts are demonstrated primarily during physical
activity. The product should be removed during prolonged periods of rest
(e.g., sleeping, continous sitting).
• Avoid the use of ointments, lotions or any substances that include grease
or acids.
• Guarantee is subject to statutory regulations.
• The product can be disposed of without any restrictions.
Product Care Instructions
Wash MalleoTrain® separately using hand at 30°C (86°F) with a mild detergent.
Do not dry in direct heat (e.g. heater, sunlight, etc.).
This product has been examined by our own quality control system. However,
should you have any complaints, please contact your retailer or our Customer
Service department.
