Overview

This document provides user instructions for a Beko Combi Fridge-Freezer, model CNG4601DVPS. It covers essential information for safe operation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Beko Combi Fridge-Freezer is designed for storing edible foodstuffs, offering both a refrigerator compartment for fresh food and drinks, and a freezer compartment for freezing and storing pre-frozen food. The appliance features a dual cooling system, meaning it has two separate cooling systems for the fresh food and freezer compartments. This prevents air mixing between compartments, leading to faster cooling speeds and preventing odor transfer. Additionally, this system provides additional power saving as defrosting is performed individually.

The control panel allows users to set and monitor various functions without opening the appliance door. Key functions include:

  • Temperature Setting: Users can set the desired temperature for both the fridge and freezer compartments. Recommended settings are provided for different ambient temperatures and usage scenarios.
  • Quick Fridge Function: This feature rapidly cools the fridge compartment, useful for quickly chilling large amounts of fresh food. It automatically deactivates after 1 hour or when the desired temperature is reached.
  • Vacation Function: When activated, this mode turns off active cooling in the fridge compartment (displaying "- -"), making it unsuitable for storing food in the fridge, while the freezer continues to operate at its set temperature.
  • Eco Fuzzy Function: This function optimizes the refrigerator's operation for maximum economic efficiency, activating after 6 hours and indicated by a specific symbol.
  • Key Lock: This feature prevents accidental changes to temperature settings by locking the control panel buttons.
  • Power Failure/High Temperature/Error Warning Indicator: This indicator illuminates during power failures, high temperature events, or other error warnings. It also displays the highest temperature reached in the freezer during prolonged power failures.
  • Energy Saving Function (Display Off): This function automatically activates after 1 minute of closed doors, turning off all display symbols except the energy saving symbol. It deactivates when a button is pressed or a door is opened.

Some models may include a water dispenser, allowing users to obtain chilled water directly from the appliance. The HarvestFresh technology in the crispers uses blue, green, red lights, and dark cycles to simulate a day cycle, preserving the vitamin content (A and C) of fruits and vegetables for a longer time.

Usage Features

The appliance is designed for domestic household use. Proper arrangement of food is crucial for optimal performance and hygiene.

  • Fridge Compartment: Intended for short-term storage of fresh food and drinks. Cooked dishes should be stored in airtight containers. Fresh produce should be cleaned and stored in crisper bins. Raw meat should be wrapped in polythene bags and placed on a biofresh box, avoiding contact with cooked food. Hot food and beverages must cool down before being placed in the fridge.
  • Freezer Compartment: Rated **** for freezing and storing pre-frozen food. Food should be frozen rapidly in small portions to maintain quality. Packaging materials must be cold-resistant, airtight, and durable. Frozen food should be consumed immediately after thawing and never refrozen. It is recommended to place foodstuffs on the top shelf for initial freezing. Maximum frozen food storage volume is achieved without using the drawers.
  • Water Dispenser (Optional): To use, push the lever with a glass. The flow rate depends on how far the lever is depressed. Only clean drinking water should be used in the reservoir to prevent damage to the dispenser and maintain warranty validity.
  • Ice Cubes: Fill the ice cube tray 3/4 full with water and place it in the Ice Bank. Frozen trays can be loosened with a spoon.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and care are essential for the appliance's longevity and efficient operation.

  • Cleaning:
    • Always switch off and unplug the appliance before cleaning.
    • Use lukewarm water with a solution of bicarbonate of soda for cleaning the interior and exterior.
    • Avoid using sharp instruments, abrasive substances, soap, harsh cleaners, or wax polish.
    • Ensure no water enters the temperature control box.
    • Clean the condenser at the back of the appliance annually with a vacuum cleaner to remove dust.
    • Regularly check door seals for cleanliness and food particles.
    • The special plastic container (drain tray) at the back, which collects defrost water, should be kept clean. It can be removed for cleaning by pushing down a lug with a screwdriver and pulling it out.
    • For models with a water dispenser, the water tank and its components should be cleaned regularly. The water tank can be removed by first removing the door rack, then grabbing the tank at a 45° angle. The drip tray should also be cleaned to remove accumulated water.
  • Defrosting: The freezer compartment defrosts automatically.
  • Door Seals: Ensure door seals are clean and free from food particles for efficient operation.
  • Storage during non-use: If the appliance will not be used for a long period, switch it off, remove all food, clean it, and leave the door ajar.
  • Door Opening Direction: The door opening direction can be changed by an authorized service technician if needed.
  • Illumination Lamp: For changing the bulb/LED, contact an authorized service. The lamps are designed for appliance illumination, not household room illumination, and can withstand extreme temperatures.
