Overview

This document is an instruction manual for a Beko Chest Freezer, model CF41286W. It provides comprehensive information on the appliance's function, installation, operation, maintenance, and warranty details.

Function Description

The Beko Chest Freezer is designed for the storage and freezing of edible foodstuffs. It operates using a refrigeration system that contains non-CFC/HFC natural substances (R600a) and cyclopentane in its insulation, which are environmentally friendly but potentially flammable if exposed to fire. The freezer is equipped with a thermostat for temperature adjustment, allowing users to set the desired internal temperature. It also features a "fast freeze" function for rapidly freezing fresh food, preserving its quality. The appliance is intended for domestic household use and is not designed for commercial or non-residential premises unless explicitly agreed upon by the manufacturer.

Important Technical Specifications

The model identifier for technical information can be retrieved by scanning the QR code on the Energy label. The appliance is equipped with a lighting source of "G" energy class, which should only be replaced by professional repairers. The interior light bulb is an E14-15W model, designed to withstand extreme physical conditions such as temperatures below -20°C. The maximum freezing capacity is 15 kg in any 24 hours. The appliance requires specific clearances from heat sources like cookers (4" / 100 mm), radiators (12" / 300 mm), and fridges (4" / 100 mm) to ensure efficient operation and prevent the compressor from running for extended periods. It is designed to be transported in a vertical upright position, or if laid horizontally, on its left-hand side (facing the lid front), and must be left to stand for at least 4 hours before operation to allow compressor oil to settle.

Usage Features

The freezer's temperature is adjusted via a knob on the thermostat, with "MAX" indicating the lowest temperature. Indicator lights provide visual feedback on the appliance's status: a green LED signifies power supply, a red LED indicates high temperature (which should turn off 45 minutes after startup unless there's a defect), and an orange LED illuminates when the "fast freeze" function is activated. For storing frozen food, it is recommended to place packets in the freezer quickly after purchase and adhere to "Use By" or "Best Before" dates. Fresh food should be placed near the side walls for fast freezing, away from already frozen items. The "Superfrost" position on the knob activates the fast freeze function, requiring a 24-hour wait before placing fresh food. It is crucial not to freeze large quantities at once to maintain food quality. The lid should not be left open for extended periods to prevent cold air escape and internal temperature rise. If the lid is difficult to open immediately after closing, it is due to pressure difference and will normalize after a few minutes.

Maintenance Features

Defrosting is recommended twice a year or when a frost layer of approximately 7 mm (1/4") has formed. The defrosting procedure involves turning the thermostat knob to zero or switching off the freezer, removing all food (wrapped in newspaper and stored in a cool place), and removing baskets. Warm water containers can be used to speed up defrosting. A plastic scraper should be used to remove ice, avoiding metal or sharp-edged objects. Hairdryers or other electrical heating appliances should not be used for defrosting. After defrosting, the interior should be wiped dry with a cloth or sponge. For cleaning, the freezer should be switched off and unplugged. The interior can be cleaned with lukewarm water and a solution of one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to one pint of water, then wiped dry. The exterior cabinet can be cleaned with lukewarm water. The condenser at the back of the freezer should be cleaned annually with a vacuum cleaner to remove dust. Lid seals should be regularly checked for cleanliness and absence of food particles. If the freezer is not used for a long time, it should be switched off, emptied, cleaned, and the lid left ajar.
