Overview

This document describes the Binatone Heavy Duty Industrial Fan, Typhoon Series, available in 500mm, 660mm, and 750mm sizes, with model numbers HDF-2021, HDF-2620, and HDF-3020 respectively. Binatone, established in 1958 in London, UK, emphasizes its customer-centric approach, delivering quality products for over 60 years across more than 75 countries. The company aims to provide high-performance, quality, and value products, focusing on making products "lifestyle improvements" rather than just appliances.

Function Description:

The Binatone Heavy Duty Industrial Fan is designed for indoor domestic use, providing powerful air movement. It features an oscillating head for wider air distribution and a tiltable head for directional airflow. The fan's speed can be adjusted using control knobs, offering various settings from gentle to high-speed cooling. It is a stand-type fan, with an adjustable height to suit different user preferences and environments.

Important Safeguards:

Before using the appliance, it is crucial to read all instructions to ensure safe operation, especially when children are present. The power supply must match the product's rated specification. This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person. Children should be supervised to prevent them from playing with the appliance.

The fan should not be operated with a damaged cord or plug, or if it malfunctions, has been dropped, or damaged in any manner; it should be returned to an authorized service facility for repair. It is strictly for domestic indoor use and not for outdoor or commercial purposes. To prevent electric shock, the product, cord, or plug should not be placed in water or other liquids. It should not be used near water sources like bathtubs, washbowls, or swimming pools where immersion or splashing could occur.

Always unplug the fan from the power outlet when not in use and before cleaning. The power cord should not be pulled, twisted, or abused. The appliance should only be used for its intended purpose as described in the manual. Fingers, pencils, or other articles should not be inserted through the slots during operation. The use of accessory attachments not included, recommended, or sold by Binatone is prohibited as it may cause damage, fire, electric shock, or injury. The fan should not be operated in the presence of explosive and/or flammable fumes, or placed near open flames, cooking, or other heating appliances. It must not be operated if the fan housing is removed or damaged, or without the protective front and rear grilles in position. A critical warning states: "To Reduce the Risk of Fire or Electric Shock, Do Not Use This Fan with Any Solid-State Speed Control Device."

Important Technical Specifications:

The Binatone Heavy Duty Industrial Fan comes in three models with varying power consumption:

  • HDF-2021: AC 230V~50Hz 130W
  • HDF-2620: AC 230V~50Hz 190W
  • HDF-3020: AC 230V~50Hz 230W

These specifications indicate that the fans are designed for standard household electrical systems in regions using 230V AC at 50Hz. The power ratings suggest increasing airflow capacity with the larger models.

Usage Features:

The fan's assembly involves several steps:

  1. Base Assembly: Loosen and remove the screw from the stand tube, insert the stand tube through the hole in the base, and re-insert and tighten the screw to the flange.
  2. Height Adjustment: Adjust the telescopic tube to the desired height and lock it in place by tightening the height adjustable collar.
  3. Motor Unit Installation: Loosen and remove the screw from the plinth, then install the motor unit onto the plinth.
  4. Rear Guard Mounting: Loosen and remove the four screws from the motor and mount the rear guard.
  5. Blade Installation: Install the fan blade onto the shaft, ensuring the holding screws are locked to the shaft.
  6. Front Guard Installation: Install the front guard. After assembly, it is essential to check that all parts are tightly fixed and that the blades do not collide with the grilles to prevent accidents.

Operating Instructions:

  1. Placement: Ensure the fan is placed on a firm and level surface.
  2. Power Connection: Plug the fan's cord into a standard AC 230V outlet.
  3. Speed Control: The fan speed is selected using control knobs on the control panel:
    • "0" knob: Turns the fan "off."
    • "1" knob: Activates low, gentle, quiet operation.
    • "2" knob: Activates medium, normal use.
    • "3" knob: Activates high-speed operation for quick cooling and maximum air movement.
  4. Oscillation: The fan head can oscillate from left to right. To enable oscillation, loosen the regulation screw below the oscillating plate. To stop oscillation, tighten the regulation screw.
  5. Tilt Adjustment: The fan head can be tilted up and down. To adjust the tilt, gently move the motor housing up or down until the fan is in the desired position. A series of clicks will be heard, which is normal.

Maintenance Features:

The Binatone Heavy Duty Industrial Fan requires minimal maintenance.

  • Lubrication: After 2,000 hours of operation, the lubrication grease in the gearbox should be replaced.
  • Cleaning: Dust should be cleaned from the fan blade and protective grilles every few months to maintain optimal operation.
  • General Cleaning: Before cleaning, ensure the fan is OFF and the blades have come to a complete stop. Disassemble the front and rear grilles and the fan blade. Wipe parts with a damp cloth.
  • Cleaning Precautions: Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh detergents, chemical cleaners, or solvents, as these may damage the plastic components' surface finish.
  • Reassembly: Refit the parts according to the assembly instructions.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the outside of the oscillating fan body with a damp cloth and dry with another cloth or paper towel.

Service & Customer Care:

There are no user-serviceable parts inside this appliance. If the power cord or plug is damaged, it must be replaced by Binatone or an authorized Binatone repairer for safety reasons. For assistance with product usage, servicing/repairs (in or out of guarantee), or spare parts (fan blade, grille covers, locking nut), customers should contact Binatone Customer Service. Contact information is provided via their website: www.binatonelifestyle.com/binatone/customer-service/ and Facebook page: www.facebook.com/BinatoneAfrica (search @BinatoneAfrica). When contacting customer service, it is important to have the model number and batch code ready, which are located on the product's rating label.

Warranty:

Binatone provides a two-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering mechanical defects. This warranty applies to domestic use only and does not cover products used for commercial purposes. Binatone will, at its option, repair or replace defective products during the warranty period, covering all necessary part replacements. Transportation charges for parts or products submitted for repair or replacement under warranty must be borne by the purchaser.

Warranty Conditions:

The warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser and is not transferable. The original sales receipt is required as proof of purchase to obtain warranty service or replacement. Dealers, service centers, or retail stores are not authorized to alter, modify, or change the warranty terms. Warranty registration is not necessary for Binatone products.

Warranty Exclusions:

Warranty service does not apply if product damage results from misuse, lack of routine maintenance, shipping, handling, warehousing, or improper installation. The warranty is void if the manufacturing date or serial number has been removed, or if the equipment has been altered or modified. The warranty also does not cover normal wear of parts or damage from negligent use, misuse, improper voltage or current, use contrary to instructions, deviation from storage/transportation instructions, repair or alteration by unauthorized personnel, or user-replaced service parts. Acts of God (e.g., fire, flood, hurricanes, tornadoes) are also not covered.

Binatone strongly recommends using quality Binatone stabilizers for protection, as connecting appliances directly to the mains power outlet or using non-Binatone stabilizers may void the warranty. To obtain warranty service, customers should contact Binatone Customer Service as outlined in the Service & Customer Care section.
