Overview

This document is a user manual for the Binatone Stand Fan, model A-1810, designed to provide cooling and air circulation with additional features for air freshness and mosquito repellency. Binatone, established in 1958 in London, UK, is a customer-centric company with over 60 years of experience delivering quality products to customers in more than 75 countries. The company emphasizes high-performance, quality, and value products, constantly striving to create "lifestyle improvements" rather than just appliances.

Function Description:

The Binatone Stand Fan A-1810 is primarily designed to provide air movement and cooling. It features adjustable fan speeds and oscillation for wider air distribution. Beyond basic fan functions, it incorporates an "Air Freshness" module that can be used as an air freshener or a mosquito repellent, enhancing the user's environment.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The manual provides detailed instructions for assembling the head unit (fan blade and protection grill) and the base unit (telescopic tube to base), and then connecting the head unit to the base assembly. It emphasizes securing all nuts and knobs tightly before operation, especially the height adjustment knob and the screw knob for the head unit.
  • Fan Operation:
    • Ensure the fan is on a firm and level surface.
    • Plug the fan into a standard AC 230V outlet.
    • Speed Selection: The fan speed is controlled by speed knobs on the control panel:
      • "0" button: Turns the fan off.
      • "1" button: Activates low, gentle, quiet operation.
      • "2" button: Activates medium, normal use.
      • "3" button: Activates high speed for quick cooling and maximum air movement.
    • Oscillation: The fan head can oscillate from left to right.
      • To operate oscillation: Press down the oscillation control knob (9).
      • To stop oscillation: Pull up the oscillation control knob (9).
    • Tilt Adjustment: The fan head can be tilted up and down. To adjust, gently move the motor housing up or down until the desired position is reached. A series of clicks during adjustment is normal.
  • Air Freshness Module: This module allows the fan to function as an air freshener or mosquito repellent.
    • Sponge Pads: The module uses provided sponge pads. Users should spray/soak the pads with appropriate liquid (air freshener or mosquito repellent) until thoroughly wet but not dripping.
    • Pad Types:
      • Orange sponge pad: Exclusively for mosquito repellent liquid.
      • White sponge pad: Exclusively for air freshener liquid.
    • Installation:
      • Locate and remove the Air Freshness module grill cap (H) on the front grill (G) by rotating it counter-clockwise.
      • Fit the soaked sponge pad inside the grill cap (H), ensuring the tabs secure it.
      • Refit the grill cap/sponge pad assembly to the front grill (G) and rotate clockwise to lock it in place.
    • Recharge: The soaked sponge pad will dry out as the liquid disperses. It is recommended to check and recharge the sponge pad every 3-4 hours.
    • Caution (Mosquito Repellent): Users are advised to select a safe mosquito repellent liquid. Many insecticide products are unsafe for humans and animals through inhalation or skin/eye contact. Always read the safety instructions of the repellent liquid carefully and avoid use if in doubt.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance: The appliance requires little maintenance.
  • Cleaning:
    • Dust should be cleaned from the fan blade and protective grills every few months to ensure optimal operation.
    • Before cleaning, ensure the fan is OFF and the blades have stopped completely.
    • Disassemble the front grill, rear grill, and fan blade.
    • Wipe parts with a damp cloth.
    • Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh detergents, chemical cleaners, or solvents, as these can damage the plastic components' surface finish.
    • Refit the parts according to the assembly instructions.
    • Wipe the outside of the oscillating fan body with a damp cloth and dry with another cloth or paper towel.
  • Service & Customer Care:
    • There are no user-serviceable parts inside the appliance.
    • If the power cord or plug is damaged, it must be replaced by Binatone or an authorized Binatone repairer for safety reasons.
    • For assistance with product usage, servicing/repairs (in or out of guarantee), or spare parts (fan blade, grill covers, locking nut), customers should contact Binatone Customer Service.
