Overview

The BDCV350 is a 2000W electronic convector heater designed for household use, providing warmth through convection heating. It is intended for indoor use only and is not suitable for commercial or industrial applications. The heater features an electronic thermostat, a full heating mode, a timer function, and adjustable screen brightness, all controlled via a touch-sensitive control panel.

Function Description:

The primary function of the BDCV350 is to heat a room. It operates by drawing in cool air, heating it using internal elements, and then releasing the warmed air back into the room, creating a convection current that evenly distributes heat. The electronic thermostat allows users to set a desired temperature between 10°C and 35°C. Once the room temperature reaches the preset level, the heating function automatically stops. If the room temperature drops below the preset, the heater will automatically resume low or high heating to maintain the desired warmth.

The heater also includes a "Full Heating Mode" which allows it to operate at full heating power for a continuous 12-hour period, regardless of the thermostat setting. This mode is useful for quickly heating a room or for sustained warmth. After 12 hours, the heater will automatically turn off. This mode can be cancelled at any time.

A built-in timer function allows users to set an operating duration from 1 to 24 hours. This feature is convenient for scheduling heating cycles and can help conserve energy by ensuring the heater turns off after a specified period.

Usage Features:

Before using the heater, it is crucial to ensure that the feet are properly fitted and secured with the provided '1 way screws'. This is a safety requirement for permanent installation of the feet, especially in the New Zealand and Australian markets. The heater should always be placed on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.

To operate, plug the heater directly into a wall socket; power boards are not recommended for high wattage appliances. If an extension cord is necessary, it must be correctly specified, undamaged, and used safely. Once plugged in, press the master on/off switch located underneath the display screen. A beep will sound, and the power icon on the display will light up. Touching this icon will turn the heater on.

The control panel features several touch icons for easy operation:

  • Power on/off: Turns the heater on or off.
  • Increase Timer or Thermostat Temperature (+): Increases the desired temperature setting or the timer duration.
  • Decrease Timer or Thermostat Temperature (-): Decreases the desired temperature setting or the timer duration.
  • Adjust Display Brightness / Timer Mode: Toggles through different display brightness levels and activates the timer setting mode.
  • Full Heating Mode: Activates or deactivates the 12-hour full heating mode.

When adjusting the thermostat, the current room temperature will be displayed. Use the '+' and '-' icons to set your preferred temperature. For the timer, touch and hold the brightness/timer icon for approximately 3 seconds to activate it. The display will show "0 hours," and you can then use the '+' and '-' icons to set the desired duration. Holding the icon again will cancel the timer. The screen brightness can be adjusted by repeatedly touching the brightness/timer icon, with four touches turning the screen off completely. Another touch will turn it back on.

Safety Devices:

The BDCV350 is equipped with two protection devices to ensure safe operation:

  • Tilt Switch: This automatically turns off the appliance if it is not in the correct operating position, preventing potential hazards.
  • Resettable Thermal Link: This feature automatically disconnects power if the appliance reaches a pre-set overheat temperature. Once the heater cools down, it will reset and power on again. If this occurs, it is important to investigate the cause of overheating.
  • Thermal Fuse: In the event of severe overheating, this fuse permanently disconnects the appliance, rendering it inoperable. This is a non-resettable safety measure.

Important Safety Warnings:

  • Do not cover the heater: Covering the heater presents a fire risk and will activate the safety fuse, permanently disabling the unit.
  • Maintain clearance: Keep textiles, curtains, or any flammable material a minimum distance of 1 meter from the air outlet, and all objects at least 1 meter from the front, sides, and rear of the appliance.
  • Supervision: Do not use this heater in small rooms when occupied by persons incapable of leaving the room on their own, unless constant supervision is provided.
  • No external switching devices: This appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer or remote-control system, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility, as this poses a fire risk if the heater is covered or positioned incorrectly.
  • Never leave unattended: Do not leave the heater unattended when in use.
  • Cord safety: Ensure the power cord is not tight, as a partially inserted plug can overheat and cause fire. Do not twist, kink, or wrap the cord around the appliance. Always unroll the cord completely before use and perform regular checks for damage. If the cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified service agent.
  • Avoid obstructions: Do not place the appliance on bedding or thick, long carpet where openings may be blocked.
  • No foreign objects: Do not insert or allow foreign objects into any ventilation or exhaust opening.
  • Not for drying clothes: Never use the appliance to dry clothes.
  • Handle with care: Switch off the appliance and use the provided handle when moving it.
  • Initial odor/smoke: When first turned on, the appliance may release a slight odor or smoke. This is normal due to the initial heating of internal elements and should not recur.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning is essential for trouble-free operation and to prevent overheating.

  • Unplug before cleaning: Always unplug the heater from the mains supply and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning.
  • Remove dust and fluff: The most common cause of overheating is deposits of dust or fluff. Regularly vacuum clean the air vents and grills to remove these deposits.
  • Exterior cleaning: Use a damp (not wet) cloth, rinsed in hot soapy water, to wipe the exterior of the heater. Never use abrasive cleaning products, petrol, thinners, or polishing agents.
  • Ensure dryness: Make sure the heater is completely dry before plugging it back into the mains supply.
  • No user-serviceable parts: Do not attempt to dismantle the appliance. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. For service or repair, contact an authorized electrical service technician.

General Care:

  • Always ensure hands are dry before handling the plug or the main unit.
  • Do not operate in areas where petrol, paint, or other flammable liquids are used or stored.
  • Do not use this appliance in the immediate surrounds of a bath, a shower, a swimming pool, or other liquids.
  • The appliance must not be immersed in any liquids.
  • Do not use the unit in wardrobes or other enclosed spaces, as this may cause fire hazards.
  • This unit is not intended for use in or around locations where foodstuffs, works of art, or delicate scientific articles are stored.
  • If the appliance malfunctions or does not work properly, contact the place of purchase or the Customer Services Team.
