FurtherinformationonterminalcontrolcanbefoundintheProductInformationG12GeneralVehicle
Electronics.
5.2.Partialnetworkoperation
Present-dayvehiclescontainupto70controlunitswithwellover100microcontrollerswhichare
networkedwitheachother.Dependingonthecurrentvehiclecondition,notallcomfortandassistance
systemsarealwaysrequired.
Throughthetargetedcuttingoutandcuttinginofcontrolunitsthatarenotrequired,itispossibleto
saveenergyandthusrelievethestrainonthebattery.
5.2.1.Controlunits
Differenttransceiversareusedinthecontrolunitsinordertorealizepartialnetworkoperation.These
transceiversareabletoevaluateandinterpretmessages.Thiscontrolunitremainsswitchedoffas
longasanybuscommunicationtakesplacewithoutavalidwake-upeventforthecontrolunitbeing
present.Ifawake-upeventistransmittedonthecorrespondingbus,thetransceivercanactivatethe
microcontroller'svoltageregulatorandthecontrolunitstartsup.
CertaincontrolunitsontheEthernetrequireaseparatewake-upviatheterminal15wake-uplinefor
startingup.
5.2.2.Residing
Ife.g.theradioisbeinglistenedtointhevehiclecondition,onlythebussystemtowhichtheradio
functionisconnectedisactive.Theotherbussystemsarewokenuponlywhenafurtherfunction,
suchase.g.seatheating,isrequired.
