Overview

The BLT421T is an intelligent cutting head designed for laser cutting applications, manufactured by BOCI (Brilliant Optical Cutting Instrument). This manual provides comprehensive information on its product parameters, installation, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The BLT421T is a laser cutting head that integrates various components for precise and efficient material processing. It features an optical fiber interface for laser input, collimation and focusing units for beam shaping, and protective lenses to safeguard internal optics. The head also includes gas ports for cutting and nozzle cooling, as well as water cooling interfaces for temperature management. An integrated working indicator provides status feedback, and a 3D-Capacitive Sensing Module, ceramic part, and nozzle are part of the cutting assembly. The device is designed to be mounted on a Z-axis backplane of a machine tool.

Important Technical Specifications

The BLT421T cutting head operates with a laser wavelength of 1030-1090nm and supports a maximum laser power of ≤8kW. It is compatible with QBH and EOC fiber interfaces. The spot magnification can be set to M=1.5/2.0 (100:150/100:200), and the focus adjustment range is ±50mm (optical ratio 1:2 100:200). The numerical aperture (NA) is Max.0.13 at Fc100, and the centering adjustment range is ±1.5mm. The focus acceleration is 7.5m/s².

For gas connections, the cutting gas interface is Ø10, supporting a maximum pressure of 25bar (2.5Mpa). The nozzle cooling gas connection is Ø6, with a maximum pressure of 5bar (0.5Mpa). The water cooling interface is Ø8, with a maximum pressure of 5bar (0.5Mpa) and a minimum flow rate of 2.0l/min. The operating temperature range is 5~55°C, and the storage temperature range is -25~+55°C. The physical dimensions of the cutting head are 404x122 mm, and it weighs approximately 5.5kg.

Usage Features

The BLT421T offers several features to ensure safe and efficient operation. It includes LED indicators for various states:

  • POWER: Green indicates normal power, red signals under-voltage, and unlit indicates no power supply or loose connection.
  • RUN: Green signifies normal system operation, red indicates an abnormal motor (current too large, mechanical components not running smoothly), and unlit suggests a broken cable or loose interface.
  • LINK: Green means normal system communication, red indicates abnormal communication, and unlit points to a broken cable or loose interface.
  • SENSOR: Green shows normal sensor readings, red indicates abnormal sensor readings, and unlit implies a broken cable or loose interface.

The gas quality for cutting must meet ISO 8573-1:2010 standards (solid particles - class 2, water - class 4, oil - class 3) to prolong protective lens life. For water cooling, deionized/distilled water (conductivity < 10 μS/cm) is recommended, with a pressure of ≤5bar and flow rate ≥2.0l/min. A dew point table is provided to help set cooling water temperature to prevent condensation on optical components.

Electrical connections can be made via a bus system (BCS210E) or non-bus systems (BCL4500A). PWE and aviation plug interfaces are equipped with dust plugs for IP64 protection, which must be maintained to prevent water ingress. Wiring operations should only be performed by trained professionals, and power to the control unit (BCS210E or BCL4500A) must be off when connecting the cutting head.

Installation of the cutting head requires a clean workbench (vertical purification, ISO 5, 100 cleanliness, average wind speed ≥ 0.4m/s) and a cleaning kit including a flashlight, absolute ethanol (or IPA), dust-free cotton swabs, dust-free cloth, and compressed air. The process involves preparing the clean bench, placing the cutting head horizontally, cleaning the fiber interface, checking the laser fiber end face for pollution, inserting the laser fiber, and sealing the interface with tape. The cutting head is then mounted on the Z-axis backplane using four screws (A, B, C, D), ensuring it is locked and stable. Finally, the ceramic body and nozzle are installed and tightened by hand.

Beam centering is performed by adjusting the XY centering knob to align the focal point with the center of the nozzle using low-power dotting. Manual alignment involves turning off the laser, placing scotch tape under the nozzle, triggering a low-power laser pulse to assess beam position, and adjusting X/Y centering screws.

Maintenance Features

The BLT421T is designed with maintainable components, emphasizing cleanliness during any maintenance procedure. Key maintenance tasks include replacing protective lenses. The product structure schematic details components like upper and lower protective lens drawers, collimation unit, focusing unit, and anti-collision set.

Replacing the upper protective lens:

  1. Open the protective door of the 1st upper protective lens.
  2. Pull out the upper protective mirror drawer.
  3. Close the protective mirror drawer door to prevent dust.
  4. Remove the pressure ring on the protective lens.
  5. Replace the protective lens.
  6. Open the upper protective mirror drawer protective door.
  7. Insert the upper protective mirror drawer with the new lens into the cutting head.

Replacing the lower protective lens:

  1. Press the buckle to open the protective door of the lower protective mirror drawer.
  2. Pull out the lower protective mirror drawer.
  3. Close the protective door of the lower protective mirror drawer to prevent dust.
  4. Remove the pressure ring on the protective lens.
  5. Replace the lower protective lens.
  6. Open the protective door of the lower protective mirror drawer.
  7. Insert the lower protective mirror drawer with the new lens into the cutting head.
