Overview

The Bolzzen Gladiator is an advanced adult electric scooter designed for fun and adventure, originating from an Australian eBike and eScooter brand. This manual provides essential information for its safe operation, maintenance, and warranty.

Function Description

The Bolzzen Gladiator is an electric scooter equipped with a handle-mounted control screen that displays crucial information for the rider. Its primary function is to provide an enjoyable and efficient mode of personal transport. The scooter features a power button to turn the device on and off, a mode button for navigating settings, and a speed display in km/h. It also shows the current battery charge level, trip information, and current power level. The speed controller, or accelerator, allows the rider to control the scooter's speed.

The scooter's advanced settings, known as P-Settings, allow for customization of various operational parameters. These settings are accessed by simultaneously pressing the Power and Mode buttons on the LCD controller. After 5 seconds of inactivity, the P-Settings menu times out and returns to normal operation. The Power button cycles through the menu options, while the Mode button is used to make changes.

Key P-Settings include:

  • P01 Backlight Brightness Level: Adjusts the brightness of the display backlight.
  • P02 Speed Unit Selection: Allows selection of speed units (e.g., km/h).
  • P03 Rated Voltage Selection: Sets the rated voltage for the scooter's system.
  • P04 Auto Shut Down Time (In Minutes): Configures the idle time after which the scooter automatically turns off to save battery.
  • P06 Wheel Size (In Inches): Specifies the wheel size for accurate speed and distance calculations.
  • P07 Number Of Magnets For Speed Detection: Used for calibrating speed detection.
  • P08 Speed Limit Value (Percentage): Restricts the scooter's top speed to comply with local regulations, such as 25 km/h in Australia.
  • P09 Zero Speed Start: Determines if the scooter can start from a standstill without a kick-off.
  • P11 EABS Switch Selection: Controls the Electronic Anti-lock Braking System.
  • P12 Take Off Power/Torque Setting: Adjusts the initial power and torque for acceleration, with settings ranging from weakest to strongest.
  • P15 Controller Undervoltage Value: Sets the undervoltage protection level for the controller.
  • P17 Cruise Control: Enables or disables the cruise control function.

The scooter also features a dual-charging capability with two charge ports on the deck, allowing for faster charging with two chargers simultaneously.

Usage Features

Before the first ride, it is crucial to fully charge the Bolzzen Gladiator. The scooter comes with some factory charge, but it's not sufficient for a full ride. To charge, plug the supplied charger into a wall socket, turn it on, and then carefully plug the charger into one of the deck-mounted ports, ensuring a secure, screwed-in connection. The charger light will be red during charging and turn green when fully charged. It's important to charge and store the scooter within a temperature range of -20°C to 50°C to protect the Lithium battery. For extended storage, charge the battery to 80% and recharge every 60 days.

Unfolding the Bolzzen Gladiator involves unlocking the blue main clamps at the base of the stem, pivoting the stem upwards, and pulling the sleeve down firmly until it reaches the bottom. A critical step to prevent stem wobble is to tighten both clamps securely, then re-tighten them to ensure a solid and stable stem.

For safety, riders are advised to wear an approved helmet that meets the Australian Standard AS1698:1988 and closed shoes. Depending on skill level, knee and elbow pads are also recommended.

To power on the scooter, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds. The screen will illuminate. If the scooter remains stationary for 90 seconds, it will automatically turn off to conserve battery. The speed controller, or accelerator lever, is used to control speed; pulling it back softly initiates movement and acceleration.

The take-off power/torque setting can be adjusted to customize acceleration. This involves entering the P-Settings menu (Power and Mode buttons simultaneously), navigating to P12 using the Power button, and then setting the desired power level (1-5, min to max) using the Mode button. Riders are cautioned to be careful when changing P-Settings to avoid causing issues.

Maintenance Features

Proper care and maintenance are essential for the Bolzzen Gladiator's longevity and warranty validity.

  • Adjusting Shaking Handlebars: Over time, the handlebars may become loose. This can be fixed by tightening the nuts on the blue main clamp, doing so twice for each clamp to ensure security.
  • Cleaning: When cleaning the scooter with water and detergents, ensure that the USB and charging ports are always closed to prevent water or moisture ingress into sensitive components.
  • Brakes: The Bolzzen Gladiator is equipped with Hydraulic Brakes, which offer excellent performance and generally require minimal adjustment. Regular servicing, ideally every 1,000 km, is recommended to maintain optimal braking performance and overall scooter health.
  • Keeping it Tight: Components may loosen over time. Riders are advised to use the Bolzzen Multi-tool at least once a month (more frequently for avid riders) to check and tighten all screws and bolts. However, care must be taken not to overtighten, as this can also cause problems.

Battery Care and Warnings:

  • Only use the supplied charger. Unauthorized chargers can cause damage, injury, and void the warranty.
  • Never attempt to open or dismantle the battery, as this poses safety risks and voids the warranty.
  • Avoid exposing the battery to water or excessive moisture.
  • Never bridge the battery terminals or touch them with metal objects, as this can cause a short-circuit and safety risk.
  • Allowing the battery to fully discharge can lead to irreversible damage.

The Bolzzen Gladiator comes with a conditional warranty. Products must be registered with Bolzzen, including owner contact information and serial numbers. Warranty claims are subject to Bolzzen's approval based on evidence and advice from their technicians or repair network. The warranty covers the motor, accelerator, controller, charger, lithium battery, and frame for 12 months from the date of purchase. It does not cover damage from improper use, tampering, not following manual recommendations, accidents, intentional misuse, or normal wear and tear on consumables like tires and brake pads.
