Overview

This document describes the Bosch GST 150 CE and GST 150 BCE jigsaws, professional-grade power tools designed for precision cutting in various materials.

Function Description:

The Bosch GST 150 CE and GST 150 BCE jigsaws are versatile power tools intended for making separating cuts and cut-outs in wood, plastic, metal, ceramic plates, and rubber. They are suitable for both straight and curved cuts, with the capability to achieve mitre/bevel angles of up to 45°. The tools are designed for use on a stable workpiece.

Key operational features include:

  • On/Off Switch (2): For basic power control. The GST 150 BCE model also includes an On/Off switch locking mechanism (1) for continuous operation.
  • Stroke Rate Preselection Thumbwheel (3): Allows users to preselect and adjust the stroke rate, even during operation, to match the material and desired cut quality.
  • Constant Electronic Control: Maintains a nearly constant stroke rate under both no-load and load conditions, ensuring consistent performance.
  • Pendulum Action Adjusting Lever (7): Provides four adjustable pendulum settings (Levels 0-III) to optimize cutting speed, capacity, and finish for different materials. Level 0 offers no pendulum action for fine cuts, while Level III provides maximum pendulum action for fast cuts in soft materials.
  • SDS Lever for Saw Blade Release (8): Facilitates quick and tool-free saw blade changes.
  • Sawdust Blower Device Switch (6): Activates an airflow to keep the cutting line clear of chips and dust, enhancing visibility during operation. This feature can be switched off when using dust extraction or working with metal.
  • Base Plate (5): Can be swivelled up to 45° for mitre cuts and can be moved backward for edge-close sawing.
  • Guide Roller (9): Supports the saw blade, ensuring stability and precision during cutting.

Important Technical Specifications:

The GST 150 CE and GST 150 BCE jigsaws offer robust performance suitable for demanding tasks.

  • Rated Power Input: Both models have a rated power input of 780 W, except for specific GST 150 BCE variants (3 601 E13 0G) which have 750 W.
  • No-load Stroke Rate (n0): Ranges from 500 to 3100 min⁻¹, providing flexibility for various materials and applications.
  • Stroke: A consistent stroke length of 26 mm across all models.
  • Max. Cutting Depth:
    • In wood: 150 mm
    • In aluminium: 20 mm
    • In steel (unalloyed): 10 mm
  • Max. Cutting Angle (left/right): 45°
  • Weight (according to EPTA-Procedure 01:2014):
    • GST 150 CE: 2.6 kg
    • GST 150 BCE: 2.7 kg
  • Protection Class: /II (Double insulated)
  • Noise Emission Values (EN 62841-2-11):
    • Sound pressure level: 84 dB(A) (GST 150 CE), 83 dB(A) (GST 150 BCE)
    • Sound power level: 95 dB(A) (GST 150 CE), 94 dB(A) (GST 150 BCE)
    • Uncertainty K: 5 dB
  • Total Vibration Values (EN 62841-2-11):
    • Cutting particle board (T 144 D saw blade): ah,B = 8 m/s² (GST 150 CE), 7.5 m/s² (GST 150 BCE), Uncertainty K = 1.5 m/s²
    • Cutting sheet metal (T 118 AF saw blade): ah,M = 7 m/s² (GST 150 CE), 4 m/s² (GST 150 BCE), Uncertainty K = 1.5 m/s²

Usage Features:

The jigsaws incorporate several features to enhance usability and cutting precision:

  • Glide Shoe (14): An optional accessory that can be attached to the base plate (5) to protect sensitive surfaces from scratches.
  • Anti-splinter Guard (15): An accessory designed to prevent splintering of wood surfaces during sawing. It is compatible with specific saw blade types and only for 0° cutting angles.
  • Dust Extraction System (16, 17, 18): A hood (16) and extraction outlet (17) allow connection to a dust extraction hose (18) and a dust extractor for efficient dust and chip removal. The sawdust blower device (6) should be switched off when using dust extraction.
  • Parallel Guide with Circle Cutter (23): An accessory for making parallel cuts and circular cut-outs. It includes a guide (21), locking screw (22), and a centring tip (25). The workpiece thickness for this accessory is limited to 30 mm.
  • Guide Rail (24): An accessory that can be used in combination with the parallel guide for enhanced cutting stability.
  • Plunge Cutting: Possible in soft materials like wood and gypsum board, using short saw blades and a 0° mitre angle.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of the jigsaws:

  • Cleaning: The power tool and its ventilation slots should be kept clean. The saw blade receptacle (13) should be cleaned regularly by removing the saw blade and tapping the tool lightly on a flat surface.
  • Lubrication: The guide roller (9) should be lubricated occasionally with a drop of oil and checked regularly for wear. The saw blade receptacle (13) should be regularly sprayed with penetrating oil.
  • Professional Service: If the power supply cord needs replacement or if any parts are damaged, the tool must be repaired by qualified personnel using original spare parts to maintain safety.
  • Dust Management: In extreme working conditions, using a dust extractor is recommended. Ventilation slots should be blown out frequently, and a residual current device (RCD) should be installed upstream when working with metals to prevent conductive dust accumulation from affecting protective insulation.
