The following additions are only valid in connection
with the accompanying operating instructions for
ACS 600/601/650 (1 689 988 222) with the version
date 2010-03-23.
2. Additional services
2.1 Refrigerant top-up
The vehicle A/C system requires a specific quantity of
refrigerant to perform the cooling effectively. If there is
a decrease in the quantity of refrigerant in the vehicle
A/C system due to a leak or because of other reasons,
an additional quantity needs to be added or "topped
up".
1. In the main menu, select "Vehicle A/C Service" →
"Additional Services" and press E.
2. Select "Refrigerant Top Up" and press E.
3. Select the operator name and press E.
4. Connect the appropriate coupler to the service con-
nection on the vehicle A/C system and press .
5. Start the vehicle and switch on the A/C. Press .
6. Enter the quantity of refrigerant to be topped up.
Press .
i The valid top up quantity range is between 20 and
100 grams.
7. Select "Start Top Up" and press . To abort the top-
up process, press c.
? The refrigerant top-up starts. After the top-up is
complete, the summary screen is displayed.
8. Press  to print the service report.
"You have successfully topped up the refrigerant in the
vehicle.
2.2 Hose drain
Every time a vehicle A/C service is performed, it is nec-
essary to drain the refrigerant from the hoses.
1. In the main menu, select "Vehicle A/C Service" and
press E.
2. Select the operator name and press E.
3. Select "Additional Services" → "Hose Drain". Press E.
? The Hose Drain screen is displayed.
Warning - Risk of frostbite!
If refrigerant escapes, there is a risk of frost-
bite to the hands and body.
¶ Carefully disconnect filling hoses as all
hoses can contain pressurized refrigerant.
4. Turn the quick couplers in the counterclockwise
direction and detach the HP/LP couplers from the
service connections on the vehicle.
5. Press  to select "Start hose drain". To abort the
hose drain, press c.
"The hose drain starts.
