Overview

The BOSS Audio Systems SB18BRGB is an 18" amplified sound bar designed for use in ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) and UTVs (Utility Vehicles). It offers versatile audio playback options, including Bluetooth streaming, USB flash drive playback, and a 3.5mm AUX input for external devices. The sound bar also features a built-in Class A/B amplifier and multicolor illumination options, enhancing both audio experience and visual appeal.

Function Description

The primary function of the SB18BRGB is to provide a robust audio system for off-road vehicles. It allows users to stream music wirelessly from their mobile devices (iOS or Android) via Bluetooth, offering convenience and a clutter-free connection. For those who prefer physical media, a USB port is available to play MP3 and WMA files stored on a flash drive, and this port also provides 1A current for charging mobile devices. Additionally, an AUX input jack enables connection to any external audio device with a 3.5mm output, such as an MP3 player or a mobile phone.

The sound bar is equipped with a built-in Class A/B amplifier, ensuring powerful and clear audio output. It also features RCA audio output sockets, allowing users to connect the sound bar to an external amplifier or powered speakers for an even more expansive sound system.

A distinctive feature of the SB18BRGB is its integrated LED lights, which can be controlled to create various lighting effects. These lights offer both static and dynamic illumination patterns, with options to cycle through colors, adjust brightness, and even synchronize with music playback.

The sound bar is designed to be shockproof and water-resistant, making it suitable for the demanding environments of ATVs and UTVs. It operates on a 10-16 VDC negative ground vehicle power supply.

Usage Features

The SB18BRGB offers multiple ways to power the device. If the vehicle has a 12V power port, the sound bar can be directly plugged in. For vehicles without a 12V power port, a supplied power port plug adapter can be used to connect to the vehicle's battery. Alternatively, a direct connection to the vehicle battery is possible, requiring the installation of a 15A in-line fuse and an on/off switch (not included) for safety and convenience. It is crucial to disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle battery before installation to prevent short circuits.

Operating the sound bar is straightforward, with controls available directly on the unit and via a supplied remote control. The power button on the sound bar (or remote) allows users to turn the device on or off. A "Mode" button enables switching between Bluetooth, AUX, and USB input modes. Volume can be adjusted using dedicated buttons, and track selection (previous/next) and play/pause functions are also readily accessible.

For Bluetooth connectivity, the sound bar automatically enters pairing mode when turned on, indicated by "bt" flashing on the display. Users can then enable Bluetooth on their mobile device, select "Boss Audio SB18BRGB" to pair, and enter "0000" if a password is required. Once paired, the sound bar automatically reconnects to the mobile device when both are turned on. To pair a second mobile device, the current Bluetooth connection must be disconnected by holding down the play/pause button for two seconds. To optimize audio performance, it is recommended to set the volume of the connected device to at least 75%.

When using the AUX input, simply connect an audio cable (not included) from the sound bar's 3.5mm AUX input to the headphone jack of the external audio device. The sound bar automatically switches to AUX mode, displaying "AUX." For USB playback, connect a USB flash drive to the USB port, and the sound bar will automatically switch to USB mode, displaying "USB."

The integrated LED lights are controlled via the remote. Users can turn the lights on or off, switch between static and dynamic illumination patterns, select specific colors, adjust brightness, and choose dynamic illumination speeds. A "SYN" button allows the lights to flash to the rhythm of the music.

Maintenance Features

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of the SB18BRGB, several maintenance guidelines are provided. For mounting, it is essential to use only the supplied accessories and consult an expert if in doubt. The mounting clamps should be checked regularly to ensure security, especially before each vehicle ride.

Regarding power connection, it is recommended to unplug the sound bar after each use if the power port is not switched off with the ignition key, to prevent battery drain. If connecting directly to the battery, an in-line fuse and on/off switch are crucial safety components.

The sound bar is water-resistant but should never be submerged in water. Cleaning should be done carefully, avoiding abrasive or highly alkaline cleaners, gasoline, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, or other aggressive chemical solutions. Sharp instruments or pressure washers should not be used for cleaning. It is also advised not to clean the product in hot weather or direct sunlight.

The remote control requires a CR2025 battery. When replacing the battery, observe correct polarity and use only the same type or equivalent. To prevent fire, explosion, or excessive heat, do not leave the battery under direct sunlight. If the remote control will not be used for an extended period, the battery should be removed. The remote control battery is a coin/button type and poses a choke hazard, so it must be kept out of reach of children.

In case of a blown fuse in the 12V power port plug, it should be replaced with a new 10A AGC fuse (glass cartridge type). The screw cap on the front end of the power port plug can be turned counterclockwise to access and replace the fuse.

Troubleshooting tips are provided for common issues such as no power, no sound, inability to connect via Bluetooth, poor Bluetooth audio quality, or unresponsiveness. These steps guide users through checking power connections, input modes, device pairing, and range, or suggest a power reset.

Finally, environmental care is emphasized, advising users to dispose of the product according to local laws for electronic products at the end of its life, rather than with normal household waste.
