5.7.5 Using the ventilator with the EtCO
2
Sensor
The EtCO
2
sensor can be connected to the patient breathing circuit and to a Vivo 45 LS
in order to monitor and store CO
2
measurements. The CO
2
measurements will be
stored in the ventilator data memory which can be downloaded to a PC and viewed in
the ventilator PC software.

5.7.5.1 Safety Information
WARNING!
Read the instructions thoroughly so that you completely understand how the EtCO
2
sensor is operated before taking it into use, to ensure correct usage and maximum
performance.
Breas Medical reserves the right to make changes to this product without any prior
notification.
Do not use a damaged CO
2
sensor or adapter.
The CO
2
sensor is intended to be used by authorized and trained medical personnel
only.
The CO
2
sensor is intended only as an adjunct in patient assessment. It must be used
in conjunction with other assessments of clinical signs and symptoms.
Masks’ dead-space, patient’s volumes and unintentional leakage may influence the
CO
2
measurements.
Used airway adapters shall be disposed of in accordance with local regulations for
medical waste.
Measurements can be affected by mobile and RF communications equipment. It
should be assured that the CO
2
sensor is used in the electromagnetic environment
specified in 8.3 Emission and Immunity Declaration, page 172.
