Overview

The Breville Juice Fountain™ Compact (BJE200 models) is a high-performance juicer designed for efficient and easy extraction of juice from fruits and vegetables. Its compact design and powerful motor make it suitable for everyday household use.

Function Description

The primary function of the Breville Juice Fountain™ Compact is to extract juice from whole fruits and vegetables. It utilizes a 900-watt motor and a stainless steel micro mesh filter basket to process produce quickly and efficiently. The juicer is designed to separate the juice from the pulp, with the juice flowing into a dedicated jug and the pulp collecting in an integrated container.

Usage Features

The Breville Juice Fountain™ Compact is engineered for user-friendly operation and convenience.

Assembly and Operation:

  • Easy Assembly: The juicer components, including the motor base, integrated pulp container, stainless steel filter basket, juicer cover, and food pusher, are designed for straightforward assembly. Arrows on the filter basket and motor drive coupling ensure correct alignment.
  • Safety Locking Arm: A safety locking arm ensures that the juicer will not operate unless the juicer cover is properly in place and the arm is securely locked in a vertical position. This prevents accidental operation and enhances user safety.
  • ON/OFF Button: The juicer features an easy ON and OFF button for simple control.
  • Wide Feed Chute: A unique patented centrally located 75mm wide feed chute accommodates whole apples, carrots, and tomatoes, reducing the need for extensive pre-cutting of produce.
  • Food Pusher: A dedicated food pusher is provided to guide fruits and vegetables down the feed chute. It is crucial to always use the food pusher and never fingers or foreign objects to push food.
  • Juice Jug with Lid: An 800ml dishwasher-safe juice jug is included to collect the extracted juice. The lid of the jug allows the juicer to operate without splatter and features a built-in froth separator to ensure clear juice when poured. The jug is designed to clip in under the spout for a positive location, though a glass can also be used.
  • Integrated Pulp Container: The juicer includes an integrated pulp container that collects pulp during the juicing process. This container can hold up to 1.5 litres of apple juice pulp before needing to be emptied.
  • Juicing Technique: For optimal juice extraction, it is recommended to turn the power on before inserting fruits and vegetables. A gentle pushing motion with the food pusher helps extract the maximum amount of juice. When juicing a variety of ingredients, start with softer textures and then move to harder ones. For herbs, sprouts, or leafy greens, wrapping them into a bundle or juicing them in combination with other ingredients can improve extraction.
  • Pulp Management: The integrated pulp container must be emptied when full to continue juicing. The juicer should be disassembled, the pulp removed, and then reassembled.

Preparation of Fruits and Vegetables:

  • Washing: Always wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before juicing.
  • Peeling: Fruits with hard or inedible skins (e.g., mangoes, melons, pineapple) should be peeled. Citrus fruits can be juiced if peeled first.
  • Pitting/Seeding: Fruits with pits, hard seeds, or stones (e.g., nectarines, peaches, mangoes, apricots, plums, cherries) must have these removed before juicing.
  • Browning Prevention: A small amount of lemon juice can be added to apple juice to prevent browning.
  • Storage: Freshly extracted juices should be consumed immediately or stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours to preserve vitamin content.

Maintenance Features

Proper care and cleaning are essential to maintain the performance and longevity of the Breville Juice Fountain™ Compact.

Cleaning:

  • Immediate Cleaning: For easy cleaning, always switch off the juicer at the power outlet and unplug it immediately after each use.
  • Rinsing: Rinse all removable parts under running water to remove wet pulp.
  • Dishwasher Safe Parts: The juicer cover, integrated pulp container, stainless steel filter basket, and 800ml juice jug are dishwasher safe (top shelf only). Alternatively, all removable parts can be washed in hot soapy water.
  • Motor Base: The motor base should be wiped with a damp cloth. It should never be immersed in water or any other liquid, nor should a water jet be used to clean it.
  • Stainless Steel Filter Basket: The stainless steel micro mesh filter basket requires particular attention. A nylon bristle brush/cleaning tool is included for this purpose. Hold the filter basket under running water and brush from the inside to remove built-up pulp. Turn the basket over and use a circular motion to brush out any remaining pulp from the mesh. Hold it up to a light to ensure the fine mesh holes are not blocked.
  • Blocked Holes: If the fine mesh holes are blocked, soak the stainless steel filter basket in hot water with 10% lemon juice for approximately 10 minutes to loosen the blocked holes, or wash it in the dishwasher. This removes excess fibre build-up that can inhibit juice flow.
  • Care for Filter Basket: Always treat the stainless steel filter basket with care as it can be easily damaged. Do not soak it in bleach.
  • Discoloration: Discoloration of plastic parts may occur with strongly colored fruits and vegetables. To prevent this, wash parts immediately after use. If discoloration does occur, plastic parts can be soaked in 10% lemon juice and water or cleaned with a non-abrasive cleaner.

Storage:

  • Cord Wrap: The power cord wraps around a raised disc on the base of the juicer for tidy storage.
  • General Storage: Ensure the juicer is turned off, unplugged, and all parts are clean and dry before storing.

Troubleshooting:

  • Machine Not Working: Check if the safety locking arm is correctly engaged.
  • Motor Stalling: Reduce juicing vigor by pushing the food pusher more slowly. Clean the pulp container, filter basket, and juicer cover.
  • Excess Pulp/Wet Pulp: Push the food pusher more slowly. Thoroughly clean the filter basket mesh, soaking if necessary.
  • Juice Leaks/Sprays: Reduce juicing vigor by pushing the food pusher more slowly.
  • Loud Noise: Ensure the filter basket is properly snapped into position. If not, turn off, unplug, disassemble, and reassemble the juicer.
  • No Juice: Check if the spout is blocked with pulp and refer to cleaning instructions.

The Breville Juice Fountain™ Compact is designed for household use and should not be used for purposes other than food and beverage preparation. Regular inspection of the appliance is recommended, and any damage to the power cord, plug, or appliance should prompt a return to an authorized service center for examination and/or repair. All maintenance other than cleaning should be performed by an authorized service center.
