Why Briggs & Stratton switch doesn't transfer to generator?
    • C
      Christine BrownJul 30, 2025
If your Briggs & Stratton switch isn't transferring to generator power, it could be due to an open generator breaker. Try resetting the generator circuit breaker. Another potential cause is unacceptable generator voltage. In this case, you should refer to the generator manual for troubleshooting steps.

      Timothy WallAug 5, 2025
If your Briggs & Stratton switch isn't transferring back to utility power, several factors could be at play. First, check if the utility disconnect breaker is open and reset it (Models 01928-1 & 01929-1 only). Also, check the service disconnect breaker and reset it if necessary. Finally, the utility voltage might be unacceptable; in this case, wait for the utility voltage to return to normal.

Why is Briggs & Stratton generator still running after utility power is restored?
    • M
      Melissa HodgesAug 11, 2025
If the generator continues to run after utility power is restored, it might be because the minimum engine run time hasn't elapsed. Allow five minutes for the transfer switch to retransfer to utility power. Another possibility is a defective fuse in the transfer switch. Inspect the fuse(s) and replace them if necessary.
