Why Briggs & Stratton Snow Blower engine does not start?
    • B
      brandon82Aug 10, 2025
There are several reasons why your Briggs & Stratton snow blower engine might not be starting. It could be due to the key being in the OFF position, so ensure it is set to ON. If the engine is cold, the primer button may not have been pressed; try pressing it twice before restarting. Also, check if the fuel shut-off valve (if equipped) is in the CLOSED position and turn it to OPEN. The unit might be out of fuel, so fill the fuel tank. If it is a cold engine, the choke may be turned to OPEN/RUN, so turn the choke to CLOSED/START and set the throttle to FAST. Finally, the engine could be flooded; in that case, move the choke to OPEN/RUN, move the throttle to FAST, and crank until the engine starts.

If your Briggs & Stratton snow blower starts hard or runs poorly, it could be due to water or old fuel in the fuel tank. Drain the tank, dispose of the fuel at an authorized hazardous waste facility, and fill it with fresh fuel. Another cause could be a blocked fuel cap vent; try clearing the vent or replacing the fuel cap.

What to do if Briggs & Stratton Snow Blower does not discharge snow?

      Chelsea WilsonAug 20, 2025
If your Briggs & Stratton snow blower isn't discharging snow, immediately stop the engine. It's possible that the discharge chute is clogged. Always use the clean-out tool to clear it, never your hands. Also, there might be a foreign object lodged in the auger; again, stop the engine immediately and use the clean-out tool to remove the object, not your hands.
