  If your Briggs & Stratton Water Pump engine won't start, lacks power, runs rough, hunts, or falters, consider these possible causes: * Ensure the rocker switch is set to "On". * Check that the fuel valve is in the "On" position. * Clean or replace the air cleaner if it's dirty. * If the unit is out of fuel, wait two minutes before refilling the fuel tank. * Drain the fuel tank and carburetor and fill with fresh fuel if the existing fuel is stale, contaminated, or contains water. * Connect the spark plug wire to the spark plug. * Replace the spark plug if it is defective. * If the engine is flooded (too much fuel), wait 5 minutes and try re-cranking the engine. * If the carburetor is out of adjustment, contact an authorized service facility.

  If your Briggs & Stratton Water Pump isn't pumping water or the output is low, here's what you can check: * Ensure the pump is primed by filling the pump chamber with water. * Inspect the suction hose for restrictions, collapse, damage, excessive length, or too small diameter; replace if needed. * Make sure the strainer is fully submerged under water. * Check for air leaks at the suction hose connector; replace the sealing washer if it's missing or damaged, and tighten the connector and clamp. * Clean any debris from the strainer. * Replace the discharge hose if it's restricted, damaged, too long, or too small in diameter. * Relocate the pump and/or hoses to reduce the head if it's excessive or marginal. * Ensure the engine speed lever is in the “Fast” position.
