Why Briggs & Stratton WP2-60 Water Pump engine won't start?
    • A
      Amanda DayAug 10, 2025
If your Briggs & Stratton Water Pump engine won't start, lacks power, runs rough, or falters, consider these potential causes: Ensure the rocker switch is set to 'On' and the fuel shutoff is in the 'On' position. Check the air cleaner and clean or replace it if dirty. Make sure there's fuel in the tank; if empty, wait two minutes before refueling. Drain the fuel tank and carburetor and refill with fresh fuel if the current fuel is stale or contaminated. Verify the spark plug wire is connected, and replace the spark plug if it’s bad. If the engine is flooded, wait 5 minutes and try re-cranking.

What to do if my Briggs & Stratton WP2-60 has low output?
    • S
      Shawn CastroAug 27, 2025
If your Briggs & Stratton Water Pump has low output, several factors could be responsible. First, ensure the pump is correctly primed by filling the pump chamber with water. Check the suction hose for restrictions, collapse, damage, or excessive length, and replace it if necessary. Make sure the strainer is fully submerged. Inspect the suction hose connector for air leaks, replacing the sealing washer and tightening the connector and clamp if needed. Clean any debris from the strainer. Verify that the discharge hose isn't restricted, damaged, or too long, replacing it if needed. Reduce the head by relocating the pump or hoses. Finally, ensure the engine speed lever is in the 'Fast' position.
