7.5.4) Communication interfaces
Each Lane has a maintenance and a display interface (CAN-
bus). While the maintenance interface is required to work with
the BUDS Aircraft Diagnostic Software to perform vari-
ous diagnostic and maintenance activities, the display CAN in-
terface enables the connection of a display for visualization of
engine parameters.
B.U.D.S Software
For engines of the ROTAX® 916 i A Series, the maintenance
and BUDS Aircraft Diagnostic Software is available.
This provides not only the reading of ECU logs, it also provides
a variety of functionality to support troubleshooting of the en-
gine. To start this software and connect the engine with a com-
puter a BUDS Aircraft Diagnostic Software kit is
required. This is a hardware interface that provides different
software functionality depending on its version.
