Overview

This document provides installation instructions for the Legacy™ Line 547K*04-07 Single Package Rooftop Heat Pump with Puron (R-410A) Refrigerant.

Function Description

The 547K*04-07 is a packaged rooftop heat pump designed for commercial applications. It uses Puron (R-410A) refrigerant and is available in various cooling capacities (3 to 6 tons) and electrical configurations. The unit can be configured for vertical or horizontal duct connections and supports various accessories such as economizers, electric heaters, and smoke detectors. The unit's operation is managed by either electromechanical controls or an optional RTU Open Controller for building management systems.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Efficiency: 13.4 SEER2 (3-5 ton), 14.3 SEER (3-5 ton), 15.0 IEER (6 tons)
  • Rated Indoor Airflow (cfm): 1200 (04), 1500 (05), 2000 (06), 2400 (07)
  • Operating Weights (Base Unit): 467 lbs (04), 473 lbs (05), 584 lbs (06), 589 lbs (07)
  • Ductwork Clearance (from unit basepan): Supply ductwork cross-sectional dimensions must be equal to or greater than the unit supply duct opening dimensions for the first 18 in. (458 mm) of duct length.
  • Condensate Drain: 3/4 in. NPT connection. An external trap at least 4 in. (102 mm) deep is required.
  • Electrical Grounding: Unit cabinet must have an uninterrupted, unbroken electrical ground.
  • Power Wiring: Maximum wire size is No. 2 AWG (copper only). Field-supplied wiring must conform to minimum 63°F (33°C) rise.
  • Voltage Imbalance: On 3-phase units, voltages between phases must be balanced within 2% and current within 10%.
  • EconoMi$er® X (Factory Option):
    • Rated Voltage: 20 to 30 vac RMS, 50/60 Hz
    • Transformer: 100 va maximum system input
    • Nominal Power Consumption: 11.5 VA (at 24 vac, 60 Hz) without sensors or actuators
    • Relay Digital Output Rating: 1.5A run (30 vac max), 3.5A inrush at 0.45PF (200,000 cycles) or 7.5A inrush at 0.45PF (100,000 cycles)
    • External Sensors Power Output: 21 vdc ± 5% at 48mA

Usage Features

  • Installation Flexibility: Can be installed on a roof curb, pad, or frame. Units can be converted from vertical to horizontal duct configuration in the field.
  • Control Options: Available with electromechanical controls or an RTU Open Controller for advanced building management system integration.
  • Economizer Functionality: EconoMi$er X system provides expandable economizer control with an LCD and keypad for setup and monitoring. Supports single or differential enthalpy control, CO2 sensors for Demand Controlled Ventilation (DCV), and various temperature/humidity sensors.
  • Defrost Control: The Defrost Control Board (DFB) coordinates thermostat demands, cooling/heating stages, and defrost control. Defrost mode is time/temperature sequenced, with adjustable continuous run periods (30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes).
  • Fan Speed Control: For electromechanical units, fan speed is set via controls on the Unit Control Board (UCB) using a VDC calculator based on CFM and ESP requirements.
  • Convenience Outlets: Two types are offered: non-powered (field-installed 125V 15A circuit) and unit-powered (transformer-stepped down 115V from main power supply). Both feature a GFCI duplex receptacle with a weatherproof cover.
  • Thru-Base Connections (Factory Option): Provides bulkhead connectors for high and low voltage wiring to pass through the unit basepan, simplifying conduit routing.

Maintenance Features

  • Access Panels: Features tool-less filter access panel, indoor coil access panel, compressor access panel, and control box access panel for easy maintenance.
  • Hinged Panels: Some units may have hinged compressor doors for improved service access.
  • Troubleshooting: The EconoMi$er X module provides alarm messages on its LCD display for various system faults (e.g., sensor errors, actuator errors, freeze alarms, shutdown active). Alarms can be cleared from the display once the cause is resolved.
  • Pre-Start and Start-Up Checklist: A comprehensive checklist is provided to ensure proper installation and initial operation, covering checks for packaging removal, electrical connections, ground integrity, airflow obstructions, unit level, compressor rotation, and thermostat installation.
  • Service Manual: Refers to a separate Service Manual for detailed pre-start and start-up instructions, available on HVAC Partners.
