What can I do to get the best digital TV set-up?
You can fix many common problems, such as missing channels, poor sound
and picture quality, by working through the steps below.
1
Double check your aerial, HDMI or SCART cables are fully pushed in and
that you’re using good quality cables (especially cables to your aerial).
2
Check your BT Vision+ box and TV are turned on.
3 Make sure your broadband’s working.
4 Scan for channels by pressing , then go to Help & Settings >
Settings > TV Settings > Scan for Channels and press
 on
Start Scan.
5
Check your aerial is properly in place and aligned with your
local transmitter (probably pointing in the same direction as
your neighbours’).
6
If you’ve got a viewing card for BT Sport, make sure you’ve pushed it
all the way into the slot with the arrow facing the box and the chip
facing upwards.
My digital TV channels have distorted sound and pictures. What can I do?
You can check your signal strength and quality for each channel.
1
Press then go to Help & Settings > Settings > TV Settings >
DTT Signal Strength.
2
Using the and and Channel +/-, highlight the channel with
poor picture or sound and note the signal reading for both strength
and quality.

Each of these will show as red, amber or green depending on whether
you need to take any action to improve your viewing experience.
A very strong signal can affect picture and sound quality. If your
signal is too strong, this will show as red and you may need to buy an
attenuator which you can find in most electrical stores.
How can I update my channel list?
Your BT Vision+ box will automatically scan for channels from time to time.
You can also run a complete channel scan yourself by pressing
,
then go to Help & Settings > Settings > TV Settings > Scan for Channels.
I don’t have any sound. What can I do?
•
Check the volume on your TV isn’t muted.
• Try another channel to see if sound is missing from all channels.
• Check all your cables are firmly in place.
• Try watching an On Demand trailer to see if the sound is working.
• Restart your BT Vision+ box by holding down on the front of
the box until it turns red. Then press to restart the box.
• If this doesn’t help and you’re using an HDMI cable to connect your
BT Vision+ box and TV, try using a SCART cable instead.
