The Buffalo Glass Washer, available in models DW464, DW467, and DW468, is a commercial appliance designed for efficiently washing glasses and similar items. This instruction manual provides comprehensive guidance on its installation, operation, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Function Description:
The primary function of the Buffalo Glass Washer is to provide a quick and effective washing and rinsing cycle for glasses. It operates using commercial-grade detergents and rinse aids, which are automatically dispensed by integrated pumps. The machine is designed for indoor use in commercial settings, ensuring hygiene and efficiency in busy environments.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Models and Power:
- DW464: 220-240V, 50Hz, 2600W
- DW467: 220-240V, 50Hz, 2600W
- DW468: 220-240V, 50Hz, 6600W (can be rewired for single phase 230V 13A or three phase 400V 12.2A)
- Pressure: All models require a water inlet pressure between 2-4 bar (29-58 psi). A Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) is necessary if pressure exceeds this range, and a booster pump if it is less.
- Dimensions (h x w x d mm) and Weight:
- DW464: 600 x 420 x 460 mm, 28kgs
- DW467: 470 x 510 x 710 mm, 39Kgs
- DW468: 570 x 600 x 830 mm, 55Kgs
- Electrical Connection:
- DW464 and DW467 are supplied with a 3-pin, moulded BS1363 plug and lead with a 13 amp fuse. They are wired as Live (brown to L), Neutral (blue to N), and Earth (green/yellow to E).
- DW468 requires installation by a qualified electrician and is supplied wired for a single phase 230V 30A power supply. It can be converted to single phase 13A or three phase 12.2A with specific wiring modifications detailed in the manual.
- Detergent and Rinse Aid Pumps: The machine features a detergent pump and a rinse-aid pump, both factory-set for maximum dosage (detergent at 3.0 lt/hr, rinse aid at 0.7 lt/hr). These are adjustable via screws on the glass cover.
- Water Softener: Recommended due to potential damage from lime scale or poor water quality, which is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
Usage Features:
- Installation and Levelling: The appliance must be positioned on a flat, stable surface. Levelling feet are provided and must be adjusted to ensure the machine is level both side-to-side and front-to-back.
- Plumbing Connection: Water inlet and drain connections must allow for easy removal for service and cleaning. The water inlet hose connects to a ¾" NPT fitting. For DW464, which drains by gravity, the drain pipe must be lower than the machine, and the drain hose should be free of bends or constrictions.
- Chemical Feeder Tubes: The machine uses separate tubes for rinse aid (blue pipe) and detergent (clear pipe). Chemical supply containers should be placed as close to the machine as possible and not elevated. Only NON-FOAMING liquid detergent suitable for glass washers should be used. Jantex Glasswash detergent (CF978) and rinse aid (CF979) are recommended.
- Priming Chemical Feeders: When new or after containers run dry, the pumps will fully prime after 8-10 washing-rinsing cycles.
- Starting a Wash Cycle:
- Ensure sufficient detergents are in containers and the drain/overflow pipe is correctly positioned.
- Close the door securely. The machine will not start if the door is open.
- Turn on the glass washer using the on/off button.
- The machine will automatically fill and heat water. Indicator lights (WARMING for DW464; TANK and BOILER for DW467/DW468) will illuminate during heating. The machine is ready when these lights turn off.
- Load glasses into the basket, ensuring all dregs are removed (do not empty dregs into the machine) and glasses are not stacked.
- Press the start button to begin the washing cycle. The program light will illuminate during the cycle and turn off upon completion.
- Shutting Down and Draining:
- Turn off the power switch (on/off button).
- Remove the overflow pipe to drain the tank.
- Safety Notes:
- Do not immerse the appliance in water.
- Always switch off and disconnect power when not in use.
- Not suitable for outdoor use.
- Keep packaging away from children.
- Children must be supervised when near the appliance.
- Do not use cleaning agents containing Chlorine, Bleach, or Hypochlorite.
- Wear personal protective equipment when handling chemicals.
- Do not use electrical extension leads.
- If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a Buffalo agent or qualified technician.
- The appliance can be used by children aged 8+ and persons with reduced capabilities if supervised and instructed.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning the Filter:
- With the machine empty, rotate the suction-pump filter anti-clockwise to remove.
- Clean the filter under running water.
- Replace and secure by rotating clockwise.
- Note: Allow to cool before removing the filter. Do not run a washing program without the filter securely in place.
- Cleaning the Wash Arm:
- Rotate the retaining nut anti-clockwise to release the wash arm.
- Clean with warm soapy water.
- Reposition the wash arm and tighten the nut clockwise.
- Troubleshooting: The manual includes a detailed troubleshooting guide covering common issues such as the machine not turning on, not filling with water, not starting the wash cycle, water not warming, noisy pump, insufficient rinsing, inadequate washing results, excessive foam, and leaks. Solutions range from checking connections and filters to adjusting pump settings and contacting authorized personnel.
- General Maintenance: Regular checks for broken glass and ensuring the drain and overflow pipes are clear are essential. The machine should be cleaned regularly, and plumbing connections should be made to allow for easy removal for service.
